The changing weather conditions at Phillip Island, the third to last round of the 2007 world championship, affected the work carried out by John Hopkins. The Suzuki rider in fact closed the first day of free practice with the eleventh time, 1.988 behind the day's leader Casey Stoner. Hopkins hasn't found the right direction with the team and for tomorrow he intends to make many changes to his GSV-R. The main problem today was the strong wind which together with the changing weather made it difficult to find a good setup. He has the microphone.

“The conditions today were quite 'horrific' so it was a lottery to go out and try to make the best of the situation! This morning it was wet and when the track dried we weren't able to set up the bike. This afternoon was similar but at least we were able to work better. The wind was terrible and it was really difficult to find a good setup and a good tyre. We are still behind and waiting for Saturday to see what the weather will be like. We will make a lot of changes and work hard with Bridgestone to find the best solution for the race.”
