Dani Pedrosa he closed the Phillip Island Grand Prix in 5th place, 5 seconds behind the top 4 who were competing for the Grand Prix victory. The Spaniard, after two splendid races in Aragon and Motegi, returns from the podium and sees Andrea Iannone's 4th place slip away in the general classification. Pedrosa ran the first half of the race battling with Crutchlow and other riders, then managed to outrun them, but throughout the race he was always a couple of corners behind the "fantastic 4" who preceded him.

“It was a difficult race, everyone was going fast – said Dani Pedrosa – but I'm quite satisfied with our performance because I had a good pace, even if in the end the final result wasn't great because I lost time dueling with Crutchlow. I had problems in the last corner, the bike was moving a lot and therefore on the straight I lost acceleration and the other riders gained on me. In the end, however, I managed to break away from the group of my pursuers and lap with a pace similar to the first 4"
