MotoGP – Phillip Island – Dani Pedrosa: "Nice to be back on the podium"
Dani Pedrosa closed the Phillip Island weekend (fifteenth round of the 2009 season) with a third place. The Spaniard from Team Repsol competed alone, having a notable gap from the Stoner-Rossi pair and a nice advantage over Alex De Angelis. In the end he was satisfied with the podium, especially considering yesterday's bad fall. The word is up to him.
“It's nice to be back on the podium, especially after the crash in yesterday's qualifying, so I'm happy about that. I pushed hard in the race from the start. It's actually a shame that he couldn't fight with Casey and Valentino; today they were going too fast and I couldn't keep up with them once they passed me. Since then I have tried to maintain my pace without making any mistakes. It's a bit frustrating, of course, not to be able to fight for the win, but considering yesterday's crash this result is OK and I would like to say thanks to the team because they worked hard this weekend. The next race is in Malaysia and it's a track I like, so I'm looking forward to next weekend and hopefully we can get another good result.”
