MotoGP Phillip Island: Andrea Iannone “My morale is low, I hope Pedrosa accepts my apologies”
The Team Pramac rider's race ended due to a fall on the sixth lap
Andrea Iannone's Australian Grand Prix ended earlier than expected, when on the sixth lap the Team Ducati Pramac rider overtook the braking range, hitting the innocent Dani Pedrosa. The Vasto rider fell, while the Honda rider, although remaining standing, retired due to the rear tire being cut by the front disc of the Desmosedici GP14.2. And to think that the Abruzzo driver's weekend had gone well, at least until before qualifying, when he was unable to capitalize on the good things he showed in practice. The start of the race wasn't the best either, due to a contact with teammate Cal Crutchlow. Here's what he said at the end of his race.
“I started very well but a contact with Crutchlow at the first corner made me go wide and I lost a lot of positions. It was a very difficult first lap and he was struggling to overtake Bradl. Unfortunately, when you have to recover you also have to risk more. The fall was certainly the result of a very strong braking but during the downshift I didn't have any gear and I went too far hitting Pedrosa, I'm sorry it could have been done well, I'm also sorry for Pedrosa who wasn't able to finish the race. I hope you accept my apology."
In the race you still haven't managed to collect what you showed in practice.
“My morale is low and I'm sorry for how it went. We could have collected a lot and we hope that the situation will change next year. We must also learn from these mistakes and unfortunately this too is gone."
