MotoGP – Nicky Hayden: "Laguna Seca must not remain an isolated case"MotoGP – Nicky Hayden: "Laguna Seca must not remain an isolated case"

Nicky Hayden achieved his first and so far only victory in the MotoGP class at Laguna Seca (his home GP). The American rider from Team Honda Repsol wants to win again to demonstrate that that victory was not an isolated case and already at the Sachsenring he was convinced he could do it. In Germany, however, Hayden apparently had to deal with Sete Gibernau and Valentino Rossi who relegated him to the 3rd step of the podium, just ahead of teammate Max Biaggi. In the general classification the American is only seventh, this is mainly due to the results obtained in China, Portugal and Donington where bad weather reigned supreme. Here are the words he released on the website www.motogp.com.

“We are improving, but I was hoping that the first half of the season would go better. China, Portugal and Donington were a disaster, lots of rain. If I didn't take these races into account, I would be in a much better position in the Championship. If I had lasted three more laps, I would be second in the world rankings at this point... However, I'm happy, because we are making progress. You always want to do better, be more competitive, score more points, win, but I'm happy because I learned a lot. In the second half of the season I want to win again. I need to win again to prove that Laguna Seca wasn't a fluke. I had the feeling that I could have made it at the Sachsenring, but that wasn't the case, even though I came close."
