After setting the second best time in the third free practice session and demonstrating a good pace in the official ones, Alex Barros slipped to thirteenth position on the starting grid, having failed to make the best use of the qualifying tyre. Tomorrow the Brazilian will have to try to get a good start when the red light goes out in order to exploit the good potential he has demonstrated in recent days in race trim. For Troy Bayliss, however, the weekend was rather difficult as he was unable to find a satisfactory set-up for him. Tomorrow in the warm up he will try some more changes to try to regain the good performance of the tests from two weeks ago.

“From how Alex's whole weekend went, I certainly wouldn't have expected this position today. In race conditions he has the pace to fight with the best and I still don't understand why he wasn't able to improve accordingly with the qualifying tyres. Usually with the soft tires you take a second off and instead he did the same time as with the hard ones. I hope that tomorrow he starts well enough so that we can still have a good race, because he has the pace. Troy on the other hand is evidently going through a difficult time because his performances do not reflect his true potential. We try in every way to help him because we are sure that as soon as he emerges from this situation he will be able to demonstrate his true value."

“With the race tire things went quite well, we were fast and we confirmed the choices we had made. Unfortunately, with the long tire I wasn't able to improve anything, despite having really given everything. This is a problem for the race because the starting position is obviously one of the most important things. It all depends on the first lap, I have the pace to lap with the leaders, and if I manage not to get stuck in traffic, the conditions to do well are still there."

“I tried everything, I really gave my all but things didn't go well, that's clear. Obviously we are missing something, I have absolutely no feeling with the bike. I'm seventeenth, I don't know if I've ever started so far back here and it's not a good feeling. All I can do is keep trying, and so in the warm up we will try something more but I expect a difficult race."
