MotoGP Mugello, Free Practice 2: Lorenzo is still the fastest

The Majorcan from Yamaha preceded Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden

The riders of the MotoGP class faced the second free practice session of the Tim Italian Grand Prix under a beautiful sun and with temperatures of 27° in the air and over 40° on the asphalt. The Free Practice 2 of the ninth stage of the 2012 world championship saw the riders immediately riding very fast and there was no shortage of crashes. Bautista replicated the morning's crash at San Donato, imitated shortly afterwards by Jorge Lorenzo. It was then the turn of Hector Barberà, who crashed at Casanova-Savelli. His "crash" caused the stewards to display the red flag, a flag that was necessary to clean the track.

Once back on track everyone continued the set-up work, and then gave their all towards the end of the session. Jorge Lorenzo recorded the best time with a time of 1:48.076, maintaining a truly enviable pace. The 2010 MotoGP champion, who was also the fastest this morning, preceded his compatriot and rival in the title race Dani Pedrosa by just 31 thousandths and an excellent Nicky Hayden who brought the Ducati GP81 to a "virtual" front row by 12 thousandths .

Hector Barberà did very well despite his fall. The Spanish rider of Team Pramac in fact set the 4th fastest time, just 178 thousandths behind his compatriot Lorenzo. Behind him the first of the Italian riders, our Andrea Dovizioso with the Yamaha SAT of Team Tech 3. The Forlivese who lapped in 1:48.308 precedes a very nervous Casey Stoner, author of a "move" not exactly worth remembering against the Danilo Petrucci from Terni, guilty of having hindered him after the Biondetti.

The Australian, who closed 451 thousandths behind the world leader, fell behind a dull Ben Spies, who once again was unable to keep up with the best riders from the Tre Diapason company. The American is followed by Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi, ninth, 941 thousandths from the top.

The nine-time world champion, unlike Hayden and Barberà, only used hard compound tyres, alternating them on the two bikes for a comparison. Behind him to close the Top Ten we find the German Stefan Bradl, with the Honda of Team LCR. Eleventh and last of the prototype riders is Alvaro Bautista, riding the Honda RC213V of Team Gresini which here returns to wearing white.

The first CRT rider is instead the Spaniard Aleix Espargarò who finishes ahead of team-mate Randy de Puniet and our Michele Pirro (FTR Honda Team Gresini). Mattia Pasini and Danilo Petrucci finished in 16th and 19th position respectively.

      Smartie,
valentino is the only one who used the hard tire compared to the other ducatis, working on consistency over the lap.

I saw the poll on the side, about who wins the Muggello GP!!???! It's a crazy thing. But who participates? In response to that other de... yes vr46 is working on consistency of performance to finish ninth if anyone falls, or so. That's why he uses hard tires. Pathetic!!!!

but... they are just free trials.
Valentino still has more points than Nicky and finished ahead of him in the last race.
Of course, he will struggle to find motivation but he is still ahead of his partner.
      Or maybe you're right.
So a "boiled" Valentino is still worth more than a motivated Nicky???

Yes, but you can't stand seeing it all the time anymore!!!!!!!!
    Are you happy like this?
Imagine if he was in 3rd place today!
And do the tires hold up when you test them? Monday?
He'll need to go fast with those too if he wants to get off to a good start for the race. Or not?
If he starts 11th with the bike set up for the race he can see the leaders through binoculars.

Instead of the technical side of the tests, I would like to highlight yet another episode in which Sotner allows himself to push his opponents...but is it possible that the race direction won't give him any sanctions? Now with poor Petrucci, the other flies to Le Mans with De Puniet... he has to stop... thank goodness he'll retire next year.

he kept it tough because it seems he even managed to get the Ducati to chatterig, the race is on Sunday but fighting with Barbera and Hayden is unwatchable.

BUT YOU, don't you ever go to the beach??????
        Damn!
There is rodent control against rats.
There is an insecticide against flies.
        AUTAN against mosquitoes,
Is it possible that there is no way to get rid of a nuisance like you????

Well, stoner fights with pedrosa and the lunches... I think it's worth coming out much better from the comparison with Hayden (who despite being stronger than Pedro and behind Rossi ;)... but what am I telling you to do to you... ^^

They are actually thinking of giving a Special Award to Stoner for his coolness and – above all – FairPlay!!
      :-))

but shut up you're ashamed!!!!! Are you Reds fans talking??? you no longer remember the shoulder swings he made to get ahead of Gibernau etc.. is it?? make you laugh!

Good come on even if it's only Friday unfortunately I'm really happy with Nicky's performance! really good, let's hope it's not the usual Friday blunder but putting the Yamaha tech 3 etc. behind Stoner is a great satisfaction! Keep it up Nicky!

it is proof that Ducati is certainly not what the 46 describes to us. with a motivated and less spoiled driver he would be on the podium in all the races with all due respect to Hayden. those who are used to winning easily are certainly less adaptable.
