GP Mugello MotoGP Race – Andrea Dovizioso wins the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, returning to victory after Sepang 2016, the red team's last victory.
The first rider to win with Ducati at Mugello after Stoner. It is the first time in the history of the MotoGP that an Italian on an Italian motorbike wins at Mugello

In second place was Maverick Vinales, followed by an extraordinary Danilo Petrucci who returns to the podium after Silverstone 2015.

Fourth was Valentino Rossi, in difficulty at the end of the race. Fifth position for a revived Alvaro Bautista, ahead of Marc Mrquez and Johann Zarco. Jorge Lorenzo was only eighth, fighting for the top positions after the first laps.

The wild card Michele Pirro finishes 9th ahead of Andrea Iannone

chronicle

Rossi starts very well from second place, with Vinales immediately behind him. Incredible Lorenzo who, after the first corner, puts himself in third position.

On the second lap, thanks to the Ducati super engine, Lorenzo passes the reds but comes wide, at the next corner comes the final attack. But before the end of the lap Rossi responded and returned to the lead

Third lap the ducatis begin to dictate the law. Lorenzo takes the lead again and Petrux also returns to take fifth place behind Dovi.

With 20 laps to go, the MotoGP race looks like that of the Moto3, with many riders all close together who continually overtake and counter-overtake.

The following lap, there's a knife fight between Rossi and Dovi for second place, with Maverick trying to get ahead in front.

The fight between Dovi and Rossi continues, Petrucci in fourth position a few meters behind.

With 15 laps to go the top 4 positions remain unchanged. Behind, the pursuers struggle to keep up, especially Lorenzo who is also passed by Bautista. Marquez also passes shortly afterwards.

With 12 laps to go Lorenzo is passed by Zarco, thus arriving in ninth position. The positions at the front remain unchanged.

With 10 laps to go the attack from Dovizioso and Vinales arrives, the Forlì native gains the lead of the race.

With 9 laps to go Petrucci passes Rossi to take third position. The following lap the rider from Terni also passes Vinales.

With 6 laps to go the Yamaha's difficulties begin, a small slowdown probably due to the wear of the front.

With 4 laps to go Vinales passes Petrucci, thus gaining second position. Meanwhile, in front Dovi gets to a second and 3.

With 2 laps to go, Dovizioso's lead increases, behind it there is a fight between Vinales and Petrucci for second place. However, the Spaniard manages to make the difference by chasing Dovizioso.

Last lap, Vianles fails to catch Dovi, behind Rossi late on Petrucci 3rd

Andrea Dovizioso wins the race, ahead of Maverick Vinales Danilo Petrucci. Rossi 4th

according to the results, there are criticisms of Lorenzo.
And by accepting this challenge he knew it would happen...
The difference lies in the behavior between him and the 46 and, motorcycling lovers have understood this.
One is just a braggart, the other is a worker.
One wanted to change the bike, the other wants to understand how to exploit the bike.
I remain confident in the long term, as soon as he manages to exploit the bike, he will see if he can make adjustments to its qualities

Beautiful race by Dovi and Petrux who deserve the success. Good race also by the humble Jorge who manages to stay with the leaders even for 2 laps then in the end he takes the usual 14 seconds last of the Ducatis, as always.. Great rider red who greets and thanks the yellow people who praise him as if he were Rossi himself... Demonstrating that correct drivers are not booed, this only happens to criminals...

Today's is just a small part of what Dovizioso would have deserved already last season, let's hope it's the start of something important, come on dove...
Lorenzo, I'm sorry but his problem isn't the Ducati, and it also happened with Yamaha last season which started well in some races then went backwards, the Michelins are his downfall and he is the downfall of Ducati, I'm sorry
The more the races go by, the further back in the world championship Rossi goes, and it's on the Yamaha!…
Marquez was an opaque race but not to be underestimated

Lorenzo only wins on the rails...instead of the Ducati he should have chosen the red arrow!

but wasn't the mugiallo the house of 46?

      2009 Stoner
      2010 Pedrosa
      2011 Lorenzo
      2012 Lorenzo
      2013 Lorenzo
      2014 Marquez
      2015 Lorenzo
      2016 Lorenzo
      2017 Dovizioso

In fact these are all illegal....

This year Michelin is giving everyone the opportunity to have a good race, in the sense of the single race.

Depending on the compounds they use, they manage to make one bike or the other go better, there is certainly more balance than with the Bridgestone, which perhaps favored one bike for half the championship and the other for the other half.

Vinales Marquez Rossi but also Pedrosa, Dovizioso, Lorenzo then Zarco Crutchlow Iannone will be able to achieve slightly better results on certain tracks, either due to the characteristics of the rider or those of the bike, the asphalt and the weather.

I don't know if it's rigged or not, maybe less so than usual where 2 bikes or 2 or 4 riders were favored above all.

Michelin changes the compounds a lot, and certainly from more options that are close to each other or that give their best on different bikes because they are made to level out performance, a bit like what happened when Michelin was the most successful supplier until around 2005. world championships saw more drivers and, above all, winning teams compared to the Bridgestone era.

Ronnie, in my opinion, Michelin should be the tire supplier and that's it, instead instead of tires it provides something that works once, yes, no in the afternoon, yes, in the morning, no, and your race is in the hands of destiny...
How can Honda, Ducati or Yamaha work like this? There is no logic with these rubbish tires

    1. Ronnie said:

Tony, but do you think Michelin is responsible?

MotoGP, like F1, is a show, an entertainment program, it has become more and more so, a bit like talent show.

It must be admitted that despite the changes in the regulations in the Bridgestone era things went strong, very strong, but there were at most championships in which either one dominated from start to finish, or certain parameters were changed and from 2008 onwards either he had Yamaha going strong or Honda either for the entire championship or half for one and half for the other.

It's not Michelin's fault, it's like Pirelli in F1 when they asked them to make tires that degrade more to overtake and mix things up a bit for the show.

Some of the pilots expressed their thoughts.

Crutchlow was very clear on Friday, he said that they had made a tire for Ducati to win, and he was right.

Every weekend is like this, you hear it from the riders' statements, at least from Thursday or Friday they receive the tires and the usage specifications and the types of compound. They already know what they need to go fast and what others need.

And from there they can put on a film about how they feel strong or have positive sensations.

Nobody is exempt from it. Like Marquez, I'm 2GP who keeps quiet. He knows that this is not the moment in which they favor Honda and he should have been more calm in the race and scored points, but in the last races he made mistakes, in my opinion Honda, as has happened in other years, will miraculously rise again in the second part of the season and they will say that they have brought new frames and various chassis, in reality they will make tires that will favor them a little more, to make a possible comeback interesting.

    2. Ronnie said:

PS this year in my opinion they make Vinales win, because it's his first year with Yamaha or they make him lose it in the end, but I think they make him win it.

      1. whose said:

I, like Tony, am a dreamer….. a driver must enter the track and give all the gas he has until the end, and this is how he demonstrates his value…. ronnie says since 2008, I think since 2010…. without taking anything away from the driver, as we saw last year, no matter how good and talented, Miller even in the case of a wet race, with the caper that he won a race, it's like saying Petrucci got to the points with the Ioda, only for the fact that all those in front were lying down…..

      2. whose said:

I will say more, and I am dissatisfied with it…. Rossi's tenth, would be more attractive in the media in the last year of the contract....

      3. Ronnie said:

2008 is inaccurate, in the sense that they were not yet on single tires. But already in 2006 Bridgestone was better than Michelin.
In 2007 with Stoner and the Ducati, they won a lot, and in 2008 Rossi immediately and Pedrosa wanted the Bridgestones from mid-way through the championship.

If since 2008 the balance has been shifted from Ducati to Yamaha and since 2009 tire developments have been shared more between Honda and Yamaha than Ducati.

Ducati's luck was having Stoner and being the first to bring the Bridgestones to win the world championship, so I think this gave them that advantage in certain races and the desire on the part of the tire manufacturer to give them something good for a few years , even if the decrease in victories year after year by Ducati and the ever-increasing victories of Yamaha and Honda was inexorable as happened before 2007.

The drivers always try to give their best, the maximum that the package guarantees them, but if they are neutered by the tire specifications they struggle.

We saw it with Marquez, with Rossi, with Lorenzo, with Stoner, with Pedrosa and we also saw it this year with Vinales. It's not just the circuit, the asphalt, the temperature and the weather, it's often the tires that influence victory.

      4. whose said:

ok, but in the end the rider wasn't conditioned by the tires as he has been for a couple of years now, in the MOTOGP era, whoever had the best package (obviously the factories are the ones who invest the most) engine, chassis and rider won…. point!!

      5. Ronnie said:

cujo there was more stability, but the game was "rigged", or rather they shuffled the deck very little.

Now, however, the cards are mixed up a lot and everyone is dealt a good hand, it would seem at least in a GP.

With the Bridgestones there were maybe 4 riders who received at least one good hand for the entire duration of the championship.

But in reality the championship was played between 2 drivers, only 2 had the exclusive right hand.

At this start of the championship it would seem that Vinales had the best hands, Marquez and Rossi didn't have very bad cards either, and they also gave a hand to Pedrosa and Dovizioso, Rossi perhaps blew the one in Le Mans, he probably had to be his race but Vinales was better.

Even in perfect conditions in my opinion at Mugello neither Rossi nor Vinales had a chance, the Ducati was too superior, too constant, and what Petrucci showed showed that Dovizioso didn't give everything, and you can also see it from the times he set, he was held by the margin.

Let's see how it goes, but in my opinion sooner or later things will complicate Vinales, but it's difficult to understand who comes out on top among his opponents, who will come close? Marquez? Rossi? Pedrosa or Dovizioso?

In my opinion it is not even excluded that they make tires very suitable for Lorenzo, it already happened when he finished third, when they made tires for Pedrosa Lorenzo also did well and this is something that can still happen. As in the Bridgestone era, if the tire has a soft compound and allows high speeds on the edge in dry conditions, Lorenzo is the best at exploiting them.

Being happy that Rossi lost (he finished fourth, it's not that easy) is a symptom of a social pathology known as mass rosichitis. It hits the chronic losers above all and claims victims among the losers at multiple levels, leaving irreversible signs like ahahah he lost with jokes that a random sandwich maker made more laugh, while we keyboard lions reached the maximum, if the carburetion of the garden was at place, 4th or 5th in the neighborhood races... come on
