Valentino Rossi was the author, thanks to yesterday's best time in free practice, of the pole position of the Japanese Grand Prix reserved for MotoGP. However, the reigning world champion is thinking about tomorrow's race, where due to the limited time available to test this weekend there isn't much certainty, as he himself admitted today.

“We were unlucky in these first two races, especially considering that last year we encountered rain almost every weekend!”, says Valentino Rossi. “In Qatar we had to postpone the race, here the qualifications were cancelled: it was certainly not a good idea to come and race here in April. Now we will basically race with only 45 minutes of testing in the dry and 45 in the wet: I think it will be one of the most uncertain races ever. However, we were lucky to be able to take pole position after a good lap yesterday in practice, and this is very important for the race. We're obviously not 100%, but we're competitive in both dry and wet conditions: I'm hoping for the first chance, or at least that there isn't a half-and-half condition that would be really difficult for everyone."
