Casey Stoner expected to fight for pole position today at Motegi, but the cancellation of testing forced the Australian to "settle" for second place on the grid. The 2007 MotoGP Champion was more than anything surprised by these weather conditions, as he himself declared at the end of the day in Motegi.

“It rarely happens, over the course of an entire championship, that we miss a practice session, so it's truly incredible that something like this has happened two out of two times at the start of the season, as is the amount of rain we've had. Probably, if I wasn't at the front anyway, I would be frustrated and angry. In any case, track time was poor for everyone, so much so that you could say that we are all... in the same boat! With 45 minutes in the dry and another 45 in the wet there are obviously still several areas where we could have improved the bike but as I said, this doesn't just apply to me. As far as we're concerned, I think we have a decent set-up for both situations, wet or dry, but it's still a good thing to have a longer warm-up available before the race. Let's hope it can take place in the dry".
