Jorge Lorenzo set the best time in the fourth free practice session of the MotoGP class in Motegi. The four-time world champion took his Yamaha M1 to the top with a time of 1:45.598, putting the Repsol Team Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez behind, 0.052s and 0.090s behind respectively.

The Ducatis are excellent, occupying fourth and fifth position with Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso. The Borgo Panigale Reds proved to be very competitive in terms of pace and in qualifying they will have the advantage of the extra-soft tyre, while in the race they will be able to take advantage of the extra liters available compared to the Factory ones.

Valentino Rossi finished seventh (+0.394s) and immediately behind Stefan Bradl's Honda. However, the nine-time world champion has good pace and with a good qualifying he will be able to be a protagonist in tomorrow's race.

Followed by the Ducati of Cal Crutchlow and the Yamahas of Team Tech 3 of Pol Espargarò and Bradley Smith, who close the Top Ten, which sees the riders enclosed within the space of a second. Alex de Angelis from San Marino, riding the Forward Racing Yamaha Open, finished fifteenth, while Danilo Petrucci from Terni, riding the Iodaracing ART Aprilia (and upcoming Ducati Pramac rider) was nineteenth.
