The world championship arrives in Motegi, a circuit owned by Honda, where next Sunday there will be the penultimate stage of 2013. The race takes place at the Twin Ring, a track made up of two rings, perhaps the most demanding of the whole world championship for braking systems.

After Phillip Island flag-to-flag race, which has effectively reopened the world championship, Lorenzo will be called to another victory on a circuit where last year he finished second behind Pedrosa and ahead of Alvaro Bautista, Andrea Dovizioso and Casey Stoner.

The points that separate the Majorcan from the leader Marc Marquez are eighteen, so the Yamaha rider must win hoping to put more riders between himself and the Honda rider. A hand could come from team-mate Valentino Rossi, who has said he is willing to help Lorenzo if Yamaha asks him to. If hello, Yamaha's last victories at Motegi were in 2008 with Rossi and 2009 with Lorenzo, and in those years Yamaha won the world championships, so it was at least at Honda's level if not better.

In recent years there has been no way to reach first place with a Yamaha. Jorge managed to finish second, but although he improved, he always took a nice payday at the end of the race.

Now the Yamahas have seamless acceleration from second up, but here there are also corners that the Honda will probably take in first gear; moreover, Honda's seamless scaling gives a further advantage, I foresee a probable Honda double, and Jorge third. Only if Pedrosa and Marquez bothered each other too much could Jorge stay with them. Furthermore, it is not certain that team orders will not intervene at this point during the race. They could ask Pedrosa to leave the position or remain second if Marquez was first, in order to guarantee the world championship already in Motegi, Japan, on his home track and which would allow Honda to show the Japanese fans its superiority over Yamaha by winning the world championship there!

I think Crutchlow has stopped giving 110% since he signed with Ducati, and maybe that's right, before he could have helped Yamaha at least beat Honda at least in the manufacturers' championship, but I think that now Yamaha has given up in all three world championships that give points.

I think Crutchlow knows that neither now nor next year will he have the chance to get podiums or excellent results, so he takes pay and takes home without taking huge risks.
