MotoGP Motegi: Casey Stoner “Today I could have won”
Casey Stoner's Japanese Grand Prix was marked by a brake problem that sent the world championship leader into the gravel. On the top of the straight the world leader saw the front end of his RC212V shake violently and when he went to brake he found himself without brakes, he then clamped a second time but was unable to avoid going into the gravel. In the end he finished third. He has the microphone.
“The whole weekend had gone very well for us and the start of the race was also positive. I felt good in the first laps and managed to get a small lead. Andrea (Dovizioso) was riding very well on the soft compound and we knew that our tire would work well towards the end of the race, so the pace we had at that moment was ok. When I got over the top the bike rattled, the front shook but I was lucky to hold on. I went to brake and the brakes didn't work so I had to pull them a couple of times, when I pumped the second time I went into the gravel and was lucky to stay on the bike. Luckily I avoided hitting the wall, but this hike pretty much ended my race. It's really disappointing, today we had the bike to win, but in the end I think I should be happy with being on the podium. Now I can't wait to go to Phillip Island, see what I can do and think about the classification, although I want to win races and that's why I'm disappointed today.”

Well said Casey! Strength #27
it was the only time that reporters noticed the problem a pilot had
on the other hand they didn't understand the loosening due to the lightening of the front end...
A technical problem happens to everyone, the important thing is not to give up
what do you want to happen, now that the fittest rider of the moment is on the best bike...
in my opinion he is currently capable of winning a few world championships in a row.. his years in Ducati have hardened him, if he wasn't before, now in my opinion he is the strongest rider in MotoGP..
and this is coming from someone who supports Valentino...
At the moment he is the strongest, but under pressure like today he shows his limits which with a bike that goes fast some don't even notice but when you are further back they are very evident.
Greetings to all.
with all due respect, but under pressure...
simply when he went to brake, the calipers tightened on nothing because they had probably moved away when he had that shaking when he went over the hill..
when he tried to brake again he instinctively did so in a more decisive manner (and since the pads had now returned to position) he immediately raised the rear wheel, causing him to break down the bike again and sending him definitively across the fields..
the fact that it didn't fall is already a feat in itself..
From what I know Stoner had a harder compound than Dovizioso... from what we saw we can deduce that even if Dovi had managed to pass him, I doubt he would have been able to keep him behind him at the end of the race (see the fight with the Sic)
It may also be bad luck, but seeing and hearing that the reporters immediately understood the problem, I believe that these things are normal administration for a pilot!!!!
Greetings to all!
I don't know whether or not this is normal administration for the pilots, in any case he didn't have the space to do otherwise. He started to brake almost as soon as the bike regained its composure a little, then he had to brake again to be able to brake, but by then it was too long.
However, the fastest lap in the race was set by Pedrosa :-P
