Cal Crutchlow placed his Custom-branded Honda RC213V in fourth place in qualifying for the San Marino GP and the Riviera di Rimini. An encouraging result for the Team LCR representative who, after the injury to the index finger of his left hand, is forced to use a special glove to be able to compete with his opponents. The Brit set his fastest lap in 1'32.768 (just 3 tenths behind poleman Maverick Viñales) and once again confirmed himself as the Best Independent Driver on the grid.

Here are the words of Cal Crutchlow: “We are obviously happy with this result even if deep down I was aiming for the front row but today it was impossible. I think we are working well and this is an important weekend for Lucio and the team and all the sponsors who came here to support me. The finger injury complicated things a bit but fortunately it doesn't hurt. It's just a little uncomfortable and will be that way for about a month. I can't tighten my finger on the handlebars and it's not exactly the best... however I think we have the right pace to have an excellent race tomorrow."
