MotoGP | Massimo Rivola will be the CEO of Aprilia Racing
Initially we thought of a role as sporting director at the Noale company, the same position he held at Ferrari, but from 7 January he will be CEO
Through a note, the Piaggio group announced that from 7 January Massimo Rivola will be the new CEO of Aprilia Racing.
The manager from Faenza, who played for several years in Formula 1, was initially thought to be able to join the Noale house as manager of the sporting activity, going to work directly in the garage to help the engineer. Romano Albesiano in the management of the team, while after leaving Ferrari last November, Massimo Rivola will cover the role of CEO of Aprilia Racing.
Who is Massimo Rivola? Forty-seven years old, with a degree in economics, he spent his years on the wall at Minardi, Toro Rosso and, with seven seasons, was the longest-serving Sports Director in the history of Ferrari. He worked with great champions including Alonso and Vettel. For the last three years he has been head of the Ferrari Driver Academy, bringing the young Leclerc from F3 to the wheel of Maranello's F1.
For Aprilia it is therefore a 'character' who will bring a lot of quality and who will strengthen the Noale racing department, reaffirming the Piaggio Group's commitment to growing the MotoGP project. Thus the growth path of the Aprilia Racing structure continues, after the hiring of top rider Andrea Iannone, alongside the confirmed Aleix Espargaró, the arrival of Bradley Smith as tester and the entry of two new crew chiefs with proven experience, Antonio Jimenez and Fabrizio Cecchini.
