MotoGP Losail, Qualifying: Andrea Dovizioso “Tonight didn't go as I had hoped”

Andrea Dovizioso got the second row (6 time 1.55.858) in qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider from Forlì hoped to be able to do better, especially in terms of timing. The word is up to him.

“Tonight didn't go as I had hoped, but it was a part of the learning process that we need to improve for the future. I'm not disappointed, but I think we were a little unlucky tonight. I need to improve the feeling with the bike and the team in the crucial minutes of qualifying. But this is absolutely normal and we know it will get better. We made a change to the bike last night and unfortunately it didn't give us the improvement we hoped for, especially with the soft tyres. I'm sure that for the race we will be a little faster by switching back to last night's set-up. I'm still full of optimism because my race pace on the hard tires is not that far from Lorenzo, but it's essential to start closer to those in front because I think the tires lose grip quite quickly. The key will be to drive to save the tires and then we will see what happens in the final stages of the race.”
