MotoGP: Lorenzo wants the Ducati as "his" Yamaha

The Majorcan made it clear that Ducati should have a Yamaha-style chassis

MotoGP: Lorenzo wants the Ducati as "his" YamahaMotoGP: Lorenzo wants the Ducati as "his" Yamaha

MotoGP 2017 Ducati Lorenzo – Jorge Lorenzo's start to the championship underlined all the Majorcan's difficulties in adapting to the Ducati. After three Grands Prix the #99 has only twelve points compared to the 56 of his former team-mate Valentino Rossi, who Lorenzo praised after the United States GP (click here to read).

The Ducati doesn't suit the Spaniard's style and in a recent interview with Motorsport.com Lorenzo said that the two-wheeled "Red" should change its priorities, dedicating itself more to the chassis than to the engine. The philosophy of the Borgo Panigale company is well known, it is well known that the chassis is not one of the strong points of the Desmosedici and even if Ducati is doing their utmost to get closer to the style of the former Yamaha rider, the GP17 will never be able to become drivable like the Yamaha M1. Has Lorenzo already regretted his move to "Red"? Here are his words.

“Yamaha and Ducati are two different companies with two different philosophies. Yamaha has always been obsessed with the chassis, to make the rider's life easier, however, Ducati has chosen over the last ten years to make the engine more powerful and with excellent electronics – said Jorge Lorenzo – Now they have to change priorities, and, apart from further engine development, try different chassis types to facilitate cornering speed and make life easier for the driver.”

I don't think it's feasible, it's always been the trademark, and many, if not all, buy Ducati for its grumpy and not very docile nature, that is, the opposite of Lorenzo's riding style, I hope for him that he can do it, otherwise I guess that those 24 million are used to light cigars…..

If on the one hand he is right, because a bike must be valid from all points of view to be successful, on the other he knew what he was up against and for me he must continue to adapt himself before asking for such profound changes. If it really is impossible then yes, but Iannone and Dovi have shown that the bike can go fast even with this type of frame..

The D16 has a perimeter frame with the engine nestled inside, exactly like the JAPs. Rossi and Hayden were the last to drive Preziosi's D16 in carrier engine configuration (without chassis). However, the configuration change did not completely solve the problems of the bike not turning and this bike hasn't turned for years. It's incredible that Ducati in all these years, with Preziosi first and Dall'igna then, has never decided to address the problem. Power is nothing without control, as a well-known advertisement stated, and Ducati hasn't understood this yet, they focus on the power of the engine and neglect handling and for years they have stubbornly been banging their heads against the wall and getting paid. There's no need to change the riders, it's the bike that needs to change. They should have kept Iannone and spent the 24 million to develop the bike, perhaps, in the long term, they would have achieved more results... Before the start of the championship the "handsome" Domenicali said: "we took Lorenzo to rewrite history and if we succeed in our aim for someone (Rossi) it could be embarrassing” Well done Domenicali, mission accomplished….. at least for what concerns the EMBARRASSING..;-)))))))))))))))))))))))))) ))))))))

They're waiting for you to go and solve the problems with the motorbike which..."doesn't turn" and it's very strange that they haven't asked you yet.
To incompetent people like Preziosi first and Dall Igna today, your technical indications would have been very useful!🤡

They may not be incompetent but they can't solve the problem, since Rossi's time it's always been the same complaint.

sorry if I correct you Nando, but that problem was there even before Rossi...

It's not easy to understand well whether the Ducati really is a gate or not. Just a few days ago Cal.c declared that riding a Honda is not as easy as people think and if Marquez rode a Ducati he would already have the world championship! Cal knows the Ducati and not even today's version which is much better than the one he used and he knows Honda very well, if he said that it is because he thinks Ducati is not as bad as they want to make it out to be... I can think...
Just as it is also true that if Honda didn't have someone like Marquez that bike would be considered bad, just see what it does in the hands of Pedrosa
Not to mention the difference between Maverick and Valentino
I'm not so sure that if there was someone like Marquez,Maverick or Stoner on the Ducati we would still be talking about gate...
At this moment I think that a manufacturer can only win the world championship if it puts a phenomenon in it, otherwise it will have to settle for 3/4/5 places, something that Ducati already manages to do, it has even achieved a second, so..

You can't judge a motorbike by giving credence to the words of a single rider who hasn't ridden it for a few years, moreover... To judge motorbikes you need unambiguous data which are the results and if you look at those you see a disaster for Ducati, a disaster that you find in the words of the 2 drivers who currently drive it and who perhaps know it a little better than Cal, I don't see why anyone would give credit to Cal's words and none to those of the 2 official drivers. If it's true that Cal said that if Marc were on the D16, the world championship would already be his, it makes me think that maybe he should change dealer... As far as Honda is concerned, let's leave aside the discussions that leave the time they find and look at the results. Last race, 3 Hondas in the first 4 places, at Termas Marc knocked himself out but when he was leading with a 6 second lead, Pedro knocked himself out while he was making a clear comeback and anyway Cal on the podium, in Qatar fourth and fifth, I wouldn't say that they are the results of a gate and the confirmation is precisely Pedro and Cal who in just 3 races both got on the podium..
