Valentino Rossi MotoGP 2016 French GP Yamaha Movistar – Valentino Rossi finished the French Grand Prix in the MotoGP class in second place, behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo and ahead of his probable new teammate Maverick Vinales. The rider from Pesaro started from the third row and in the first laps he had to battle to get out of the group, he had the say.

“I'm very happy, because when you start on the third row and finish second, it means you've done a good job. Last year I always started from the third row, but I started well, but today I didn't and in the first laps I had to "argue" with the Espargarò brothers and Smith. It's just a shame that I started like this, because once I got rid of them I did well, even setting the fastest lap of the race. However, it's my fault, because yesterday I made a mistake in qualifying and then today he was very strong and if you want to counter him, you have to start at least in the top five. They are very important points because I reduced the gap to the lead and we are three in 12 points.”

Now comes Mugello, in what state of mind do you arrive there after this result?

“I finish well, but I know that the others are also doing well on that track. Our bike still works well, especially in the race, where I had a good feeling. I like Mugello very much, I think it can go well with these tyres, but it will be important to do well from practice, because Lorenzo goes very fast there and then there are the Ducatis and Marquez."

Did you lose the chance to win more in free practice or in qualifying?

“I would say a bit of both. On Friday we concentrated on trying to find more traction on the tires used in Jerez, which was the biggest problem, but the new tire brought by Michelin largely solved this problem, so we should have concentrated on other aspects.”

The last eight races have been won by those who took pole, what do you think?

“There was a tussle in the first twelve laps of the race, then the positions stabilized, but MotoGP has been like this for a few years. If you have a few tenths of an advantage, then you can make a difference in the race."

Marquez crash – Dovizioso, what do you think?

“I've seen it and usually it can happen that when the one in front falls, the one behind has a moment of indecision, what in jargon is called "foolish", but looking at it again it's Marquez who falls a moment before Dovizioso, so it's not that the case."

I completely agree that it's your fault, after a bad Friday, a bad Saturday... the race was nice but starting in the third row means losing the race even before starting.

Great Rossi!! He wasn't okay all weekend! He got off to a bad start and at a certain point he was sandwiched between 2 riders, falling to the back...eighth and now far away. BUT the grit and determination that he put into every overtaking, having gained 1.3 seconds behind Marc and having passed them both. He could have done better, but he made a mistake! congratulations and in any case he is -12 from the top, because this year too he is there to compete for the world championship :)

Agree on almost everything, Rossi is obsessive about every little detail, he can't be in traffic on the qualifying lap, it's too big a mistake.

This Nando is also true, last year it happened to him often, and it will happen again this year, let's hope less so, but Rossi is like that...

true Durim, despite the bad qualifications, did a great job, this year he is the one who puts pressure on the rear…..

This year the championship will be conditioned by the tyres, the drivers, without exception, must be more careful not to crash than in qualifying. In this case, it would have been enough for Rossi to start in the second row so as not to get caught up and have the chance to fight it out with the infamous guy. I'm impatiently waiting for the day that Rossi and the infamous guy will find themselves facing each other in a brawl... It will happen one time or another, it would have already happened last year if the infamous guy hadn't gotten in the way2 , that day I really hope to see Rossi demolish the certainties of the "Spartan".... Otherwise the D16 will take care of it next year...

in qualifying figure of m while Lorenzo sets the track record, overtakes the Yamaha satellites and seems to have accomplished a world-class feat, when he gets in front of Dovizioso it seemed like he had to go who knows where but instead he doesn't go anywhere and on the crashes of Marq and Dovi arrives calmly on the podium given half an hour after Lorenzo. Usually Rossi as for years now, anonymous races on the hope of other people's misfortunes, this year too he aspires to....
    happy you ahahahhaahah

    1. VDS said:

In fact it went exactly like that, but it must be said that in Spain he went very fast, and when he drives like that, hats off to him.
The most difficult thing is to make those who get so excited about this race understand that he didn't win it. . and that he took them great from his teammate.
But it is part of the objectivity and sportsmanship of his "fans", not all of them fortunately, but certainly those ignorant people who are only waiting in Mugello to vent their frustrations as depressed bar fans.

I don't know what race you saw. The only one who fell in front of Rossi was Iannone, while Dovi and the child fell trying to keep Vale's pace. Starting seventh and finishing second is no easy feat. It's true that Vale saw him with binoculars, but why did he push his tire, otherwise he would win by distance hahahahahahahahahaha, you're ridiculous

JORGE LORENZO – RATING 10 He returns to live with arrogance, riveting the rest of the group. Despite the complicated situation of separation at Yamaha, the ride at Le Mans allows him to make a leap to the top of the world championship. The hope is that in the next trip to Mugello he can perform with the same serenity without the boos of the usual idiots.

Even in other newspapers these professional whistlers are spoken of in a less than tender way. Even on Sky yesterday there was talk of this scoundrel who doesn't have a shred of respect for those who risk their lives every other Sunday. I report the exact words. I heard of clubs supporting Lorenzo and Marquez who were threatened not to show up at Mugello. There will even be an avalanche of police to prevent people from throwing objects on the track at someone. Let's see if the Reds fans can make us look bad on the planet. The conditions are all there.

    1. Durim said:

I'll answer you even though I know you won't understand, but among you "ridiculous" people there are good people.

You wrote "let's see if the reds fans can make us look bad on the planet". Well, here, you can make the mmmmm figure. Rossi dear oscarzeta or whoever you are, is respected and loved all over the world! He is respected and admired in France, Germany, Holland, UK, Malaysia, Argentina, USA, Japan, Australia and even in Spain... in all these countries Rossi is loved by everyone except here in Italy. Now, why does the whole world have nothing but words of praise for Rossi, while we, you who are Italian together with many others, do nothing but try to denigrate him? It would be enough for you to watch a race on the English channel BT sport to understand how, in addition to the fans on the track, Rossi is respected and loved by commentators, people in the paddock, etc.

The only mmmmm figure that Italy makes is because of you (yours) because a driver like that should be praised even if he pisses you off!

Having said that, I won't even comment on the other comments from Bimbiminkia...I'll leave them to you

..I'll start by saying that I don't watch football and I have little consideration for those who throw bottles at each other and punch each other in the stadium..let alone watching 22 overpaid jocks..(an insult to working people)..

Among other things, citizens pay the police and law enforcement for all the matches.. every Saturday and Sunday.. but let the police take another step.. they will get tired of giving it to each other later..

If I go to watch a race (which unfortunately I haven't done for a long time) it's because I love this sport... I like different drivers and I have a favourite...

If there is someone who does some stupid things (like last year), booing them if they deserve it is always better than throwing a bottle at them or shouting "cogli0ns" at them..

Of course, Stoner's contribution as a test driver to Honda did not bring these super benefits!

Practically now we have removed Marquez who makes a difference...on certain tracks...

Yamaha and Ducati have improved... they have remained a bit stuck...

    Go Stoner!

    1. Bestlap said:

You're right ueueue. By dint of writing about sterile controversies and KA22ATE, in this blog we are losing sight of the main topic which is motorbike racing and the motorbikes themselves... Anyway, as far as Honda is concerned, it's not that it's worrying who develops it now or who he developed it in the past but the situation of the team in general. After the GP I heard Engineer Bernardelle say that Marquez is still using the 2014 chassis and this says a lot about the stagnation of evolution in HRC... Is it possible that in 2 years they haven't been able to make a better chassis than the 2014 one. .??

      1. whose said:

Marquez is a child, but at the wheel he is truly a phenomenon and manages to ride over problems, the same cannot be said of Pedro who gets several seconds.
It seems like a situation like it was in Ducati when Stoner was there.
The fact is that you can't always ignore the problems, development is important, looking at it like this it seems that Marquez is a super rider, but not very good at directing the technicians on the right path, but there is Pedro who is like Dovizioso …..

Maybe it's because he no longer has a say in the matter.

      2. Bestlap said:

Well done Cujo, I think like you, this whole story of riders riding over problems must be debunked, it's clear that it's a policy that pays off in the short term but if you want to win a championship, the bike's problems must be faced and resolved, it's not enough riding as if they didn't exist.. Then I also noticed that the so-called riders who ride over problems often leave something to be desired as test riders, this is the case with Marquez who by dint of ignoring the bike's problems have now become endemic. Before Pedro (who is a good test rider) made a mess of it but now it seems to me that he's a bit bored with developing the bike because Marquez gets the glory and anyway I don't know how much they listen to him in HRC..
