Although Le Mans is not exactly a track favorable to his Ducati, Casey Stoner conquered a precious front row with the third time in official qualifying, even coming close to pole position with just 75 thousandths of a second. The Australian from Ducati is naturally satisfied with this result, especially with the race pace shown.

“Today's session, with the conditions changing minute by minute, was practically a constant gamble! This weekend, albeit for different reasons, we experienced a situation very similar to that of Jerez, with little time to find the right settings for the bike. It was therefore essential to also use the qualifying to refine the set-up and there wasn't much left to dedicate to the actual qualifying. I used two of the softer tires and while with the first I wasn't able to set very good times, with the second I lost too much time behind Chris Vermeulen and wore it a little too much. I was a bit disappointed because I think it would have been possible to do better. In general, however, I am reasonably happy with my race pace: we were able to resolve some problems that emerged over the weekend and we are on the front row, which is always a good thing. For tomorrow I expect a very tough, very tight race, whatever the weather conditions we will encounter, but I feel a little more comfortable than in Jerez and I hope to have the chance to fight more in the front positions.".
