MotoGP Laguna Seca, Free Practice: Nicky Hayden “I definitely have to improve my pace”
Uphill start for the man who was once defined as the "monster" of the Lagoon
Nicky Hayden did not go beyond the ninth time on the first day of testing for the Red Bull US Grand Prix, ninth stage of the 2013 world championship. The Ducati rider, who will certainly not be riding this bike next year (many avenues open for him , including Superbike, Ducati with an external team or a Yamaha-powered motorbike also in MotoGP), has problems entering corners, a fundamental factor at Laguna Seca. “It's really special for me to be here at Laguna Seca with the support of all my fans, but obviously I hoped that today's practice would go a little better. I'm forcing the front end a lot, especially on the bumpy parts, but I can't close the corners well and I'm lacking a bit of acceleration. The gap to the leaders is not very high, but I need to definitely improve my pace. I noticed that Dovi has made some progress with the new chassis and, if it helps improve cornering, it is certainly a step forward on this circuit due to the type of corners. If tomorrow we also manage to improve insertion, I believe we will be much more competitive.”+
