The weekend at Laguna Seca couldn't have ended in a better way for Casey Stoner. The world championship leader in fact achieved the victory after suffering a lot in qualifying, moving ahead of his rival Jorge Lorenzo in the standings, second today ahead of Dani Pedrosa. The 2007 MotoGP champion thus brings the number of victories in 2011 to five, and he has the say.

“This weekend we suffered a lot, a bit like what happened in the last races. So it's nice to be able to win after a really difficult start. At the beginning the bike wasn't perfect on the front but as the laps went by the situation improved. Once I caught Dani (Pedrosa) I saw that he was in difficulty and I managed to pass him. I continued to push and once I got behind Lorenzo I studied him for a few laps. I saw that he was struggling to keep the pace and I decided to attack him and then push as hard as I could. It's an even better victory because it came after an uphill start but in the warm up the team did an excellent job. During the race I was patient and calm because I understood that I could fight for the victory. Maybe lately we have received a little too much criticism, many have forgotten that we always finished on the podium. It's really nice to come back with a race like this and show everyone that we can still win.”
