MotoGP – Yamaha celebrates its 50th anniversary in GP racing
Yamaha celebrates 50 years in the world championship this year and does so with a special logo that recalls the company colors and which you can see in the photo. The reigning MotoGP champion Japanese manufacturer debuted in the French GP in 1961 and since then has won numerous titles and has counted many champions among its ranks. The logo will also be on display on the tank of Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies' motorcycles, on all Yamaha Factory Racing uniforms, inside Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies' garage and also on Yamaha Factory Racing trucks.
To celebrate the special event in Motegi, the bikes that made Yamaha history will return to the track. These also include the 1974-500 YZR (OW20), Yamaha's first 500cc bike, and the 500 YZR-500 (OW35K) which allowed Kenny Roberts to win three world championships. For Europe the event will be repeated in Assen. On this occasion, the bikes of Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies will have the colors of the event logo, a design that will commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese manufacturer.
