MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo “Stoner apologized to me for overtaking at Laguna Seca”

MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo “Stoner apologized to me for overtaking at Laguna Seca”MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo “Stoner apologized to me for overtaking at Laguna Seca”

Few have talked about it, but after Casey Stoner's overtaking of Jorge Lorenzo on lap 27 of the Red Bull US Grand Prix, an overtaking that took place at around 255 km/h at the end of the finishing straight, the Australian driver apologized in private . It was the Mairocan driver who said it as reported by the Spanish media (in this case by AS signed by Mela Chércoles) who commented as follows.

“I discussed overtaking with Casey (Stoner); it was risky because you're going at almost 300 km/h. I saw it too tight... he had great courage, but I had to close because I thought we might fall. I respect Stoner. He is not a driver who makes risky maneuvers and always tries to be correct, but I have to review the video. He apologized to me. I told him that he should calm down, I have nothing against him. I think he left enough space, so I don't want to give too much importance."

Honestly, didn't it seem like an "excuse" overtaking, that these drivers should start watching videos from the Schwantz Rainey Gardner era? Maybe that would be the case…..

sorry Jorge...but you're doing motorcycle races, not horseback riding...Stoner couldn't have done a cleaner overtaking, the only one who risked it was Casey himself who went onto the dirty part of the track to overtake, and that's it...

Stoner won the world championship with this overtaking!!! Lorenzo, if you go back to playing with the playstation, at least there you won't risk forgetting the traction control is off!!!

I saw laguna seca 2008 again yesterday... how exciting!!... and they apologize??!! but how sad!!!! We miss you Vale!!!

If he apologized it's because he cut him off, in fact Lorenzo slowed down when he saw him next to him, otherwise they could have collided,
and in that curve at that speed if they went down I don't know if it would end well for both of them. It is clear that many people do not understand this,
there are overtaking and overtaking regardless of the spectacular nature of the overtaking, but when overtaking is dangerous and a little incorrect (even if done without
malice) it is right to apologize, Stoner is a gentleman, not only as a driver but also as a person. And continue to make judgments based only on cheering.
Then if anyone misses Rossi, then blame him for not being able to ride the Ducati and taking 30 seconds per race. This does not mean, however,
that maybe next year with the 1000 new bikes it won't be able to entertain the public again, given that it remains a two-wheel phenomenon. And then in the end you had the spectacular overtaking……….WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS WANT YOU TO COMPLAIN????

In fact, you can't see it clearly from this video, but Lorenzo had to pick up the bike again. So in my opinion it could have been OK for Stoner to raise his hand to apologize during the race; of course Lorenzo could have spared himself that speech as a magnanimous person.

Well, I don't know, put the small side wheels on it too so that no one gets hurt for sure...

They're pussies... Capirossi's overtaking in Harada could perhaps be considered a bit risky, otherwise they're hilarious...

What fags these pilots are becoming, especially this year my goodness!
Stoner's overtaking was beautiful, Lorenzo had to close the throttle it's true but in any case the overtaking was clean and correct.
In the past they often touched each other even when overtaking and they didn't complain like this!
Lorenzo himself once did some overtaking that was borderline correct and now he's become a pussy!
I'm not saying I drive like Simoncelli but it's right to overtake aggressively otherwise what kind of show are we watching from home?
They get paid for that otherwise they can change jobs!

What do they invent to make people talk about themselves... in a while they will leave and proceed in single file... they will give them the indicator and the mirror for overtaking... W the SBK

great overtaking by stoner no doubt about it....but apologizing to him makes me think that looking back on it...:-)...he realized that he had brought out the so-called attributes...it's not that on the next occasion he isn't capable of it then?……otherwise why apologize…….you are prototype riders in the highest expression of the motorcycle category whoever dares (or if you want to see it another way: whoever has the balls) wins!!!! (beyond the certain talent)…… .the apology seems to me that with a cool head he was a little scared, not Lorenzo, of the overtaking... what do you think???

  • GS forever said:

But please.. Barely overtaking, what does Stoner have to apologize for????????????

  • Francis said:

but in my opinion it was just a great overtaking between two great champions and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it! otherwise go and play golf... that's better

  • HANDCUFF said:

You may not like Stoner (given his character) and I don't argue with that, but there is no arguing with the fact that he has always been VERY CORRECT on the track.

  • myself said:

x mercea stefan Yes, yes, you can see that Stoner is still bothered by it, ahahahahhaahah 5 seasonal victories, 30 seconds per race given to the freak, my goodness, how it bothers him!!!!!!! Pathetic in not accepting reality, the second in the wrist has moved to the tongue, he won't stop crying anymore…………

  • camullus said:

Probably he apologized to Lorenzo because by overtaking on the outside he closed his trajectory a bit, given that the "Simoncelli" controversy had broken out over overtaking on the outside without leaving space, I think that Stoner thought of clarifying what happened with Lorenzo in private (Jorge then immediately spilled everything to the press!!), however the overtaking was clean and regular, nothing to do with those who try to do that public danger yes Sic.

  • redFAM said:

apologizing to the president of the safety commission is a very astute move if made by old foxes like stoners, it increases the aura of occult powers and condenses even more the scorched earth around the pilots defined as dangerous (in reality real fighters like the great SIC). They want to create unwritten rules to make sport a world between gentlemen... maybe then they will come to an agreement on how and where to overtake each other before the race.
I see this action as the result of the fear one feels towards that school of motorcycling which, if it exists, exists only in the results of its riders... the ITALIAN one.

  • redpassion said:

Lorenzo, open your eyes, think about driving and don't be a mama's boy. They overtook you exceptionally, don't reply and don't make excuses, think about racing, we've got plenty of puritanism in our heads.

  • James said:

for me all these new drivers are fagots!!!! their women have the 30 cm surprise under them!!!

  • Ivan said:

Pathetic Lorenzo for complaining! Stoner made a humiliating pass on him and the child complained, this Lorenzo is truly pathetic. I would like to see if Schwantz and Rainey would have apologized for a similar overtaking, but please... Lorenzo changes sport if you think Stoner was unfair. Stoner gave you a great motorcycling lesson.

  • RICCARDO said:

yes no!!!! Lorenzo pushed Stoner towards the outside and Stoner overtook the outside, closing Lorenzo's way... it's very reminiscent of the sic overtaking on Pedrosa... except that Lorenzo braked without lifting the bike and that the curve was much faster (therefore more dangerous ) ...no drivethrough...sure if one six two it was sic they would penalize him...whether he had been in place of Lorenzo or Stoner...how ridiculous everyone!!!..stoner and Lorenzo commission...shame!!!!I can already imagine the controversy if sic he had enlarged how much Lorenzo in retilineo throwing stoner on the dirt...
I can already imagine the controversy if Sic had passed on the outside as a stoner, forcing Lorenzo to close or fall... !!!!!

  • Fabio said:

Stoner's overtaking was clean and correct, but that's two-ass stuff like that! In no way comparable to that of Simoncelli on Pedrosa. Stoner took the biggest risk, because on the outside in a corner like that, at that speed, off the line, you could really get hurt. They are 2 great champions who respect and respect each other and it is right that they spoke to each other, to avoid any misunderstandings. If we want to see more overtaking like this, it is necessary for the drivers to trust and respect each other. The discussion of pussies and pussies is a discussion of people who are used to watching life on TV, the world championship is not a film, those little men you see on TV are Real People... This does not mean that even hard overtakings are there and wanted , but they can only be there if they trust and respect each other, otherwise a back and forth would start which could lead to someone getting seriously hurt

So what was he not supposed to apologize for, but to genuflect??????????

    They are pussies…………….

But if Stoner took the trouble to go to Lorenzo's garage and apologize to him, there must be a reason, right? don't forget that you are talking about two world champions, two of whom have been racing since they were 5 years old, while you are just people who sit and watch the race with blood in their eyes. Your opinion is worth nothing compared to theirs. Furthermore, I don't understand why you are taking it out on Lorenzo who neither demanded an apology nor said that he was expecting it...
