As written yesterday, Jorge Lorenzo could be Honda's new reference rider in 2010. For the Spaniard, the golden-winged manufacturer is in fact ready to set up a team with the Majorcan as the only rider with the support of the Telefonica sponsor, all with a salary that would be around 5 million dollars. At the moment Lorenzo has not yet decided his future and this blocks the "motor market". The first two riders interested in the matter are the current Repsol Team riders, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso. The Spaniard has already made it known that he will choose the team that can allow him to fight for the title, therefore also a bike that is not Honda (the company with which he has always raced and with which he won the 125cc and 250cc titles and the company with where he was MotoGP Rookie Of The Year in 2006). For Dovizioso, however, there are offers from both Ducati and Yamaha. The man from Forlì (who crashed in the two GPs) could also pay for the criticism (which obviously aims to be constructive) made in public to Honda, guilty of not having built a winning bike.

Marco Melandri (currently with Kawasaki-Hayate) could return to Honda (Gresini side), the Ravenna native would arrive alongside Marco Simoncelli to form a mixed pair, in fact Melandri boasts a lot of experience in MotoGP while for Simoncelli 2010 will be the year of debut. The person who is seriously at risk of being left "on foot" is Alex De Angelis who, however, could find a place in Team Pramac. Also at risk are James Toseland (the Tech 3 team would like Ben Spies, currently in Superbike) and Sete Gibernau while in Suzuki Loris Capirossi should renew for a year while Vermeulen starts to look around. However, everything will be unlocked after the aforementioned Jorge Lorenzo has made a decision, at which point the motorbike market will really start.
