MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo just one victory away from Mick Doohan
The ranking is led by Giacomo Agostini with 122 successes, followed by Valentino Rossi with 107
The success in Aragon (see photo), the first of the season, gave Jorge Lorenzo his 53rd victory in the world championship. The Yamaha rider is just one length behind Mick Doohan, five-time world champion in the 500 class.
The Majorcan has the first chance to catch up with the Australian (he would thus move to fifth place overall in terms of number of victories) already this weekend at Motegi, a track where he already won last season.
The four-time world champion (2 in 250 and 2 in MotoGP) won 4 GPs in 125, 17 in 250 and 32 in MotoGP, for a total of 53 victories. Mick Doohan is stuck at 54, although it should be noted that he won them all in the 500 class.
The most victorious of all time is the legendary Giacomo Agostini, with 122 victories. Valentino Rossi follows with 107, Angel grandson with 90, Mike Hailwood with 76, Mick doohan with 54, Jorge Lorenzo with 53, Phil Read with 52, Dani Pedrosa with 49 while Jim Redman and Casey Stoner are both at 45.
