MotoGP Test Jerez Day 1 – The private test session is currently underway on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

Two weeks after the Valencia GP, which crowned Marc Marquez 2017 world champion, and one week after the first pre-season tests, on the Valencia circuit, some teams remained in Spain for two days of private tests. Not all the teams are present, with notable absentees being Yamaha (which will test in Malaysia next week) and the Repsol Honda team. THU the complete list of those present.

We also remember that the track was recently resurfaced and the temperatures are much lower than those when the GP took place, the comparison between the times therefore loses much of its value, but we will do it anyway to have an indicative data, in in particular with the FP3 of 2017 which took place in "similar" weather conditions, to have an indicative data.

Before the lunch break we find Andrea Iannone at the top of the timesheets. The Suzuki rider stopped the time at 1:38.652, just under a tenth from the best performance recorded by Dani Pedrosa during FP3 in 2017.

Second time for Cal Crutchlow, overworked, who is continuing the work started in the Valencia tests to compare the various versions of the bike, also on behalf of the official team. We remind you that the British driver, as in 2017, will also receive all the "new" material this year. Currently #35 has 3 bikes in its garage: 2 2018 versions, one of which is equipped with a different air intake for the airbox and one 2017.

Behind the LCR rider, there are the two Ducatis of Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. The Borgo Panigale company, although on the track with various innovations compared to the GP17, warns that we will only see the GP18 during the Sepang tests at the end of January.

Excellent fifth time for Bradley Smith. The Englishman on the KTM precedes Tito Rabat, this year riding the Ducati of the Avintia team, and his teammate Pol Espargarò, who crashed fortunately without consequences before the break.

Sylvain Guintoli also did well and, on the track with Suzuki in place of Alex Rins, recorded the eighth time, ahead of the best of the rookies Takaaki Nakagami and Scott Redding, still struggling with the study of his new Aprilia.

Just before the lunch break, Xavier Simeon, debuting in the category, managed to overtake our Franco Morbidelli who is currently thirteenth

The best of the rookies is currently Takaaki Nakagami, who precedes our Franco Morbidelli (Marc VdS).

SBK riders also on track. The times show both categories in the same "ranking".
