MotoGP Jerez: Jorge Lorenzo “I gave everything to catch Rossi but the bike was bad today”
The Majorcan finished in 4th place, behind the top three
Jorge Lorenzo closes the Jerez Grand Prix in 4th place, finishing the third race out of the 4 so far outside the top three, a really low average for someone like him who is used to "living on the podium". The Majorcan, who started very badly, immediately recovered, remaining glued to his team-mate Valentino Rossi for almost the entire race. In the final laps, however, Jorge, unlike Rossi and Pedrosa who preceded him, raised the pace and was thus overtaken by the #26 Honda which stole the bottom step of the podium.
“I got off to a bad start today – said Jorge Lorenzo – this weekend, on the other hand, we never got off to a good start in all the test sessions. The race went worse than I expected and the same was true for my physical condition. The temperature was too high and I knew I would have problems with the front. I gave everything to catch Valentino Rossi but lap after lap the bike was getting worse and worse. We weren't able to set up the bike on this track and with the tyres, while Valentino went fast. However, I didn't feel good with the front right from the first lap and then the start was terrible, my bike wheelied. Tomorrow I won't test the new chassis, but small things, but what is certain is that for the future we have to work harder than we have done up to now"
