The second round of the 2010 season on the Jerez de la Frontera track took place today in front of 122.048 very warm fans and the Spaniard Lorenzo took home the victory ahead of Pedrosa and Rossi in a heart-pounding final lap. Still clear skies and summer temperatures (27°C and 44°C on the asphalt) for the 27 laps of the Andalusian GP with the LCR Honda MotoGP Team rider Randy de Puniet starting from the second row after the excellent sixth time in qualifying Yesterday.

After setting the tenth time in the morning's warm up, the Frenchman astride the RC212V was unable to match his performance from yesterday with the race set up and finished the GP in 9th position. Although De Puniet was looking for a better result, he demonstrated once again that he has the ability to stay in the leading group as happened in the first Qatar GP so the 29-year-old and his Team will continue their development work also in tomorrow's test in preparation for the next Le Mans GP. Randy maintains 6th place in the provisional standings with 17 points.

De Puniet – 9th: “We are certainly a bit disappointed because we were aiming for a different result today. After the excellent place in qualifying which guaranteed me the second row, I made a terrible start and ended the first lap in 12th position. From then on it was a complicated race for me! The pace was really tight and everyone was running at the same times but after a few laps I had some problems with the front tire. In those conditions I wasn't able to maintain the pace of the past few days as I lost the front at various points on the track. However, I'm still sixth in the standings and I'm sure of the potential of our bike so we absolutely have to continue in this direction.”
