Dani Pedrosa's race ended immediately, the innocent victim of the accident caused by Jacque which, in addition to the Spaniard, also involved Colin Edwards and Chris Vermeulen. However, while the last two remained unharmed, the same was not the case for Dani, who was unable to return to the pits due to severe pain in his chest and neck. Checks in the mobile clinic revealed a chest trauma with cervical distortion and a contusion to the left hip. Fortunately, the x-rays did not reveal any fractures and so a collar was applied and a chest CT scan and a cervical-dorsal MRI were prescribed as further checks. Dani decided to carry out these checks once he returned home. He will therefore miss the scheduled tests tomorrow, but the Catalan is convinced he can be fit for China

“It's a shame I crashed today, because I think I had the chance to get a good result here”, says Dani Pedrosa. “It seems like this is a really unlucky circuit for me! My start wasn't good, and I spun the wheel off the lines, which meant I lost positions and found myself in the big group of riders on the first lap. Then when I was braking in the final part of the straight of the track, I was hit and I fell. I have some pain in my chest and neck and I'll go for some checks tomorrow, but I should be fine for the race in China"
