MotoGP Indianapolis: Invincible Marquez, tenth consecutive success!

Another record for the reigning champion who beat Lorenzo and Rossi

MotoGP Indianapolis: Invincible Marquez, tenth consecutive success!MotoGP Indianapolis: Invincible Marquez, tenth consecutive success!

Mission accomplished! Marc Marquez continues his streak of consecutive victories, at the IMS, Indianapolis Motor Speedway he achieved his tenth success, which allows him to equal the record of the legendary Giacomo Agostini (he achieved it in '68, '69 and '70). The reigning champion, on the track with the Stars and Stripes helmet, also has another particular record: he has won all the races held in the United States since he made his MotoGP debut last year. His is also the 500th victory for Spanish motorcycling in the world championship and the hundredth in the premier class. With this victory he also joins the club of drivers who have achieved at least ten successes. It includes Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner, Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi. This is also Honda's tenth consecutive victory in the States.

The Pesaro native himself tried to make life difficult for Marquez and after a rocket start he held command of operations for a while. However, he was unable to keep up with Marquez and Lorenzo, but the third step of the podium also gave the Pesaro native a record, first driver in history to reach 4.000 points in the premier class. A great satisfaction for the Yamaha rider, who last year won the Dutch GP in Assen.

This race also said that Jorge Lorenzo seems to have returned to his old "style". The Majorcan actually finished the race close to Marquez, not like at Mugello, but in such a way as to give him hope for the end of the season.

However, it was a two-sided race for Ducati, with Dovizioso starting off like a rocket (his battle with Rossi, Marquez and Lorenzo was excellent) and finishing seventh and with Andrea Iannone having to give up when his GP14 fell silent.

Race report

After the summer break, the world championship returned to the track in Indy. The riders of the MotoGP class are ready to compete in the tenth stage of the season, which will take place at the IMS, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, temple of speed. Yesterday in the 15 minutes of the “Time Attack” it was Marc Marquez (Honda) who achieved yet another pole of the season (the eighth), stopping the clock at a time of 1'31.619. With him on the front row a great Andrea Dovizioso on Ducati and Jorge Lorenzo with the Yamaha Factory.

Second row for Aleix Espargarò's Yamaha Open and for the Factory ones of Valentino Rossi and Pol Espargarò (Team Tech 3). Andrea Iannone will start from the third row with the seventh fastest time ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Bradley Smith. Danilo Petrucci from Terni, riding the Iodaracing ART, will start from the sixth row. Everything is ready, 27 laps to go for 112.59 km, the traffic lights go out, the fastest at the start is Andrea Dovizioso, astride the Ducati, author of a rocket start. The Forlì native is ahead of Rossi and Lorenzo, but Rossi attacks immediately taking the lead while Iannone is third. Followed by Marquez, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Aleix and Pol Espargarò. Hernandez and Bautista are out immediately.

The first round ends. Rossi is always ahead of Dovizioso, who is threatening with the Ducati. Iannone is still third and ahead of Marquez, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Pol and Aleix Espargarò, Bradl and Smith.

Lorenzo attacks Pedrosa, while Iannone arrives slightly wide and Marquez takes advantage of it. Rossi and Dovizioso had a great start and continued to lead the race. The Ducati is very close to the Yamaha and on the fifth lap Dovizioso attacks and passes Rossi. The Pesaro man responds, but the Forlì man isn't up for it, the two touch and it's Marquez and Lorenzo who take advantage of it.

Big brawl in this phase, while Iannone takes a big risk. Valentino Rossi manages to regain the lead, ahead of Marquez, while Lorenzo has passed Dovizioso, who in turn precedes Iannone and Pedrosa. Meanwhile, Danilo Petrucci retires.

Lorenzo's attack on Marquez, who resists but seems to be in pain. Meanwhile, Iannone does his personal best, which brings him closer to Dovizioso. At the end of the straight Marquez is in Rossi's slipstream, but it is Lorenzo who attacks and passes the world championship leader. The Honda rider doesn't agree and even takes the lead. Some problems for Iannone, who is overtaken by Pedrosa.

Marquez tries to escape with 16 laps to go. Contact between Bradl and Aleix Espargarò, the German's bike is catapulted into the air, while the Spanish rider with the tail of his Yamaha Open destroyed is forced to retire.

Meanwhile, Pedrosa has passed Dovizioso, who after a great start is trying to limit the damage. Up front, Lorenzo attacks Valentino Rossi, who moves into second position with 13 steps left to go.

Fast lap by Marquez, the world championship leader is keeping a great pace, while Iannone, passing along the pit straight, reports a problem with his GP14 and on the following lap he stops disconsolately, resting the motorbike on the wall located beyond the last bend, the one that enters on the straight.

Martella Marquez and by the time he reaches the halfway point of the race his advantage increases. Only Lorenzo seems to be able to keep up with his compatriot, but first position remains far away. Let's summarize the ranking. Marquez, Lorenzo, Rossi, Pedrosa, Dovizioso, Pol Espargarò, Smith, Redding, Crutchlow and Aoyama. Meanwhile, Leon Camier withdraws and replaces the convalescent Nicky Hayden.

Five laps to go, Lorenzo is two seconds behind Marquez, who would achieve his tenth consecutive victory, thus equaling the record of the legendary Giacomo Agostini. Rossi's third position instead seems solid, Pedrosa doesn't seem to be able to undermine the Pesaro man, who had deluded his fans with a great start.

Two laps to go, Marquez travels alone towards success which would also mean having won all the MotoGP races held in the States. Lorenzo and Rossi follow him, while Dovizioso is sixth and attacked by Smith.
The last lap begins, Marquez passes for the last time on the famous brickyard located on the finish line (a row of bricks one yard wide that recalls the old pavement of the track).

Last corners, the tenth victory arrives for Marquez, increasingly in the Olympus of the MotoGP gods. Record numbers, for a predestined man, who in a year and a half since entering MotoGP is becoming a legend. Lorenzo and Rossi's Yamahas on the podium, while Dovizioso finished seventh.

…I saw the Yamaha garage celebrating…well…the world has changed!

the world hasn't changed... it's just that normal people are happy when they get the best they can get with the means they have at their disposal!

Scott Redding would have been beating Crutchlow if it weren't for the significantly inferior bike.

Ducati made the wrong choice of British rider.

But Scott, as an ambitious boy that he is, feels only passing through Gresini even with a factory bike, in 2016 together with Jack Miller he wants an official team, and I'm sure that both Scott and Jack will succeed, they deserve it, they are two great riders.

I'm sorry that half a second in the wrist made Lorenzo lose so much time and let Marquez gain that irrecoverable gap...

On the other hand, I'm annoyed that someone can continue to do whatever dirty things they want on the track...
and now he is no longer alone since even the newbie is overprotected...
      really disgusting!

It reminds me so much of the blow given to Gibernau, if I were in Dovizioso I would have slapped him after the race...

Good race, even if the result at least as regards the victory was obvious.

Luckily Marc is starting to relax a little and not give the blows he usually did, let's hope that little by little he loses a little shape and falls asleep a little more.

As Suppo said, in my opinion he had margin, which this time he didn't want to use to the full.

I hope it's not the track and that actually Yamaha brought something new that made the bikes improve a bit and that Honda lost a bit of that superiority, although I don't think they lost it and it was just Pedrosa to make a counter-performance.

Well done to Jorge for not giving up and believing in it, well done to Rossi for making a perfect start and the first laps in front, certainly by doing so you end up ending up like Lorenzo, of some GPs and the end that Valentino himself has already had a few times and that he did Stoner when he had an inferior bike, you get tired, you run out of tires and then you attack. Jorge here, on the other hand, had a Rossi-like race and recovered but they don't have the margin, they don't have the margin that Marc has who continues to play with them.

It was clear how Marc was saving money, until the moment when Lorenzo showed up alongside him, from then on he woke up and it was clear that he can change pace 1 or 2 times during the race and every step he takes creates a small hole.

I agree 100%, Honda consumes tires less and has more at the end of the race.

Great Marc, I can't find any new words to define him other than the ones already said.
Great Jorge finally as he should be and yet another disappointment from Dani of whom I expected more.
It's a shame for Dovi who is disadvantaged by the tires otherwise he would be there fighting for the podium, if I were Ducati I would go with the factory regulations.
This race clearly showed that Marc makes the difference while the Honda and Yamaha are equivalent bikes.
I repeat for the umpteenth time that the only one who could fight with Marc and make his "life" difficult would be the legendary Casey and I would stake everything on this.
I was very annoyed by how those three stupid skyfo presenters spoke badly about Cal before the qualifying on Saturday night with the many ridiculous criticisms they leveled against him along the lines of "Quacquaracqua, he turns the flag, he goes back on his word, he doesn't commit, etc. .” when someone with the writing on their helmet "let's stand together" did the exact same thing, in fact he did and said much worse, but not only did they not say anything to him but they even supported him and agreed with him, they too evidently had double standards as is convenient instead of one that applies to everyone, objectivity unknown for them too but we know that it is a natural thing given who they are after as the same thing applies to the majority of those who are after them .
Ahahahahahahaha by now it's clear how the story turns for everything that concerns Mr "it's all me and only what I do is fine" but the beautiful and hilarious thing is that everything they said about Cal is much more fitting and perfect precisely what they defend, excuse, admire and continue to boast of in an unhealthy manner, as usual they never contradict themselves, poor people!
Lucchinelli even has the "Valentino" syndrome ahahahahahahah for every sentence he always has to mention "Valentino" as if he had a tic, or rather he doesn't have a tic, for me if he were to say Mass during the sermon he would say "Valentino" every three words ahahahahahah I'm It's a shelter here!
Now the new hilarious question is: who knows if Marc had the Yamaha and if the 47-1 had the Honda how would it end?
And, and how would it go, it would go like now with Marc who ALWAYS beats him, but what the c@g@s these idiots are shooting!

The circuits change (10), but it's always the same one who wins.
But the great thing is that the races are anything but boring, even when the phenomenon Marc takes the lead and greets everyone.

Beautiful race, especially when we saw three Italians in the first three places, different times.

Beautiful race, there is little to comment on, just seeing and admiring these phenomena that keep us entertained.

Marc, there is little to write. You just have to look at it and see how that bike rides.
There are no words/articles to describe the feat he is doing.

Lorenzo seems to be back, which is good for the championship.

Rossi was good in the first laps, even if the contact with Dovi was a bit Garibaldian, and in fact he realized he had made a mistake and apologised.
He was good, but he didn't have enough to be with Jorge or Marc.

    Pedrosa not received

Dovi well as long as the bike/tyre complex held up.

    Very good Redding!

Ditto the 2 of the tech 3.

Nice championship and nice races, keep going!
