Cal Crutchlow he closed the Indianapolis GP in 5th place at the end of a race spent dueling first with Bautista and then in the final laps with Valentino Rossi who overtook him with an overtake at the last corner, beating him by just a few thousandths. The Tech3 team driver, as usual, fought from the first to the last lap and at the beginning also tried to stick to the three Spaniards in front of everyone. The Briton therefore gave himself a good race, recovering after the anonymous race held at Laguna Seca and thus celebrating the official contract just signed with Ducati.

“I'm really pleased to have finished in the top 5 – Cal Crutchlow said – because it means that I continue to be the first among the satellite pilots. It was a really good race and I had a lot of fun. With Alvaro it was nice and then we have to give credit to Valentino for being able to recover a big disadvantage and it wasn't easy to do so with just a few laps to go. I knew he was behind me and that he would try to pass me until the last corner. I think the three of us really entertained the American fans. In the end I only lost two points to Rossi on a track that I don't particularly like and throughout the weekend I was always with the best."
