A few hours ago was the announcement of the renewal of the Tech3 team with Yamaha. Nothing new under the sun, given the long collaboration that has existed between the French team and the Ywata house since 1999 and is therefore destined to last for at least another two years, until 2015.

For a few years now, Herve Poncharal's team has been an integral part of the Yamaha MotoGP project, as it is supplied with official material by the parent company.
The excellent results obtained by the team's two current drivers, the English Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith, certainly contributed to the renewal, with their placings ensuring that the satellite team is third in the team classification, immediately behind the officials and in front of the internal Ducati team.

The objective is to perpetuate collaboration and good placings also in 2014, when the Tech3 team will field the rookie Spanish talent Pol Espargarò in addition to the reconfirmed Smith.

Herve Poncharal:

I am very happy and proud to announce that Tech3 will still work supported by Yamaha Motor Company for the next two years. It's an honor and a privilege. We have been working with Yamaha since 1999 in the 250cc with Olivier Jacque and Shinya Nakano and in 2000 we won the world championship. The following season we entered the premier class and since then we have had a great collaboration and relationship. It is no longer just a technical collaboration, but we now feel part of the Yamaha family. Next year a new adventure will begin with two young riders: Bradley Smith will be in his second year in MotoGP and Pol Espargarò will join him, and we are very excited. I think it will be a great team, not only with Yamaha, but also with our sponsors, and that's something to be quite proud of."

Lin Jarvis – Yamaha Motor Racing, Managing Director:

“I am very very happy to continue our relationship with Hervé Poncharal and the entire Tech3 team. We have enjoyed a great collaboration for more than a decade and have shared many memorable moments over the years. The Monster Yamaha Tech3 Team continues to be the best satellite team in MotoGP and its riders continue to achieve excellent results and put on a show for MotoGP fans. Now that we have Monster Energy as a common sponsor our bond is even stronger and we hope to work even harder in the future to continue to develop young talent, which is a very important part of the Yamaha Factory Racing program."
