MotoGP | Silverstone GP FP2: Dovizioso brings the Ducati back to the top, Rossi eighth

MotoGP British GP Free Practice 2 – Andrea Dovizioso achieved the best time in the second free practice session of the MotoGP class at Silverstone, scene of the twelfth stage of the 2018 MotoGP championship.

The Ducati rider stopped the clock at a time of 2:01.385, a time of just 5 thousandths better than that set by the home rider Cal Crutchlow, riding the Team LCR Honda.

Third time for Maverick Vinales' Yamaha, the best of Free Practice 1 and just 61 thousandths from the top in these FP2. The #25 of the Iwata manufacturer preceded the world championship leader Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo, who grabbed fifth place right at the last attempt.

Sixth time for the Ducati GP17 of Australian Jack Miller, who preceded the Yamaha SAT of Frenchman Johann Zarco and the official one of Valentino Rossi, the latter trailing from the top by 0.767s.

Also in the provisional Top Ten are Andrea Iannone with Suzuki and Alvaro Bautista with Ducati, with the Spaniard who will race in the Superbike World Championship next year aboard the Team Aruba Ducati in place of Marco Melandri.

Outside the Top Ten are Danilo Petrucci (Team Pramac Ducati) twelfth and Dani Pedrosa (Honda Repsol) fifteenth and also preceded by rookie Franco Morbidelli (Honda Marc VDS).
