MotoGP | GP Sachsenring Day 1: Rins, “Made the most of used tires”

Eleventh position for Alex Rins at the end of the first free practice on the Sachsenring track. The Spaniard made the most of the data collection from the compounds used, gathering useful data in view of tomorrow's Grand Prix. Despite the attempt with new tyres, however, the Suzuki standard-bearer was unable to reach the top ten, closing today's two sessions with the eleventh fastest time. Tomorrow's objective, therefore, will be to make the most of the third set of tyres, trying to gain direct access to Q2.

Here are the words of Alex Rins: “We did many laps with one set of tyres, so much so that in free practice 1 this morning we didn't use the second compound. We focused above all on understanding rear degradation, collecting various data. During the afternoon, however, we mounted the new tyre, but we were unable to enter the top ten, finishing in the eleventh fastest time. We are all very close and therefore tomorrow we will strive to improve. The objective, obviously, will be to get into Q2."
