MotoGP | GP Portimao Race 2: Quartararo, “It was a nightmare”

MotoGP GP Algarve Portimao 2 Yamaha Monster 2021 – Fabio Quartararo ended the Algarve Grand Prix, the 17th stage of the 2021 MotoGP class, with a crash.

Starting from the third row, the new world champion seemed to be in difficulty for much of the race. He was never able to keep up with the top positions and with three laps to go he was the victim of a crash, fortunately without consequences.

“I know exactly what happened during the accident. I came long and fell. But it was a racing nightmare. When I was behind our rivals, it was impossible for us to overtake. I think during today's race my pace was much better than I showed. In our strong points on the track I made up a lot, but in acceleration and speed we were too far behind. I think what helped me this season was that I started from the front row 14 times. As soon as you get into a bad situation in qualifying like today, it becomes difficult. Next week I will focus a little more on qualifying than on race pace. It would be nice to end the season well in Valencia."
