MotoGP Italian GP Ducati Race – Andrea Dovizioso ended the MotoGP class Italian Grand Prix held at Mugello in third position. After a great start from the third row, the Ducati rider raced as a protagonist and only had to surrender on the last lap to his team-mate Danilo Petrucci and the world championship leader Marc Marquez.

Despite his third place, “DesmoDovi” said he was truly happy for the first victory of Petrucci, who he has “adopted” since this winter and trains together with. An unusual relationship between riders, but a true friendship underlined by both the man from Forlì and the man from Terni.

With this third place his gap on Marquez increases from 8 to 12 points, but the world championship is still long. Here's what "Dovi" said.

“The race went very well, we worked in the right way in practice. We drove well, unfortunately we didn't have more to break away from the others, which is a shame, it's the only negative aspect given that this is our track. We lose in the middle of the corner, while Marquez had more mileage."

FIRST VICTORY DANILO PETRUCCI

“I'm really happy for Danilo, he deserved it, if I decided to help him it's because I care and because he deserves it and above all he deserves this race, because when you suffer for so many years and have a career like his, very strange, when you look like a MotoGP rider, you want to take the races with your teeth and that's what he did. I have absolutely no regrets about helping him, I help him grow and he helps me. I have an "anomalous" relationship with him, we always got along even when he was with another team, we always spoke to each other, there was always respect and we decided to collaborate with each other. Today I didn't have any benevolent attitude towards him, today he wanted the victory and he took it. As I said, I'm happy with his victory, he deserved it. Coming back to our relationship it's a give/take, we help each other.”

NEXT BARCELONA RACE

“This year's Marc (Marquez, ed.) is really strong, as is Honda. We have to improve our cornering, we are strong but if we want to always be competitive we have to work on this."
