MotoGP | GP Misano Race: Valentino Rossi, “It pisses me off not being on the podium”[VIDEO]

MotoGP Gp Misano Yamaha MotoGP Race – Valentino Rossi closed the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, sixth stage of the 2020 MotoGP, in fourth position.

The Pesaro rider, starting from the second row, immediately launched himself in pursuit of his teammate, Franco Morbidelli, but about halfway through he had to start picking up the pace. At the end he was joined by Francesco Bagnaia and Joan Mir who managed to pass him in the final corners.

“I'm half happy, but it was a shame not to get on the podium. It would have been nice to share the podium with Pecco and Morbidelli. It was a shame because Mir had great pace and overtook me. It was a great weekend though, we were strong. In the race I had some problems with the front and Morbidelli was very strong. We are proud of our pilots. I think Yamaha was very strong all weekend. The circuit has many corners and few straights. It has a lot of grip and in these conditions the bike works well. We worked, but compared to the others we had fewer problems. At the moment I'm happy, because it was a good performance. I feel happy. The best thing is to be competitive, but it pisses me off not being on the podium because it would have been like Saturday night at the ranch. There are things we can improve. If I had been a bit faster I would have made it. We have to be stronger next week.”

Rossi statements on Maverick Vinales

“Maverick in difficulty in the race? It depends on the drivers' DNA. Maverick is strong in qualifying and testing. It seems like that's the strong part of him. Compared to him, I suffer in this aspect, but it has always been like this in my career. Today I don't know, he started with the hard tires and I wanted to choose those too, but 10 minutes before the race we chose the mediums, this made the difference.

“In my opinion the mistake was starting to think about the future too early, because I still enjoy myself and am competitive. We have raised snakes in our hearts, but I'm happy. I think it's unique in the world of sport. Today if all three of us had been on the podium it would have been unique. The only one missing was me, but I'm happy. In various parts of the race I asked myself several times why I decided to do the academy. But it's a satisfaction. We did a great thing for the sport, but they got too strong too soon.

“It's starting to get interesting. I have to go faster to fight for the championship. If I had finished second I would have been closer to the top. There is no real favorite. Everyone has problems. Quartararo started strong but made mistakes. Dovizioso is in the lead but it is one of his most difficult seasons. I'm at 18 points and there are still many races. Anything can happen this year.”
