MotoGP | Malaysian GP FP3: Vinales stands out ahead of Marquez, Rossi ninth
Dovizioso finishes eighth behind Petrucci, with Iannone also in ten
MotoGP Gp Sepang Free Practice 3 – Maverick Vinales wins the third free practice session of the Malaysian Grand Prix, eighteenth stage of the 2018 Motorcycle World Championship.
Last free practice session is fundamental for direct passage to Q2. The rain expected for today stopped in the early morning and left the track slightly damp until a few minutes before the end of the third session. Only 10 minutes from the end did the premier class riders manage to improve on the times recorded yesterday.
The following ranking refers to the combined three rounds.
The Yamaha Spaniard stopped the clock at 1:59.231, the fastest lap up to this point of the weekend, and preceded Marc Marquez and Jack Miller.
Excellent fourth time for Dani Pedrosa who manages to get into the top ten after a difficult first day. Behind the Honda rider, Alex Rins confirmed his position thanks to the time recorded in the third free practice session.
Sixth time for Johann Zarco's Yamaha SAT who finished ahead of the Ducatis of Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso. Valentino Rossi and Andrea Iannone complete the top ten.
Franco Morbidelli narrowly missed out on the top ten and finished twelfth and will be forced to go through Q1. Michele Pirro, on the track to replace Jorge Lorenzo, finished in the eighteenth time, thanks to a fortunately harmless fall halfway through the session.
