MotoGP | Gp Le Mans Qualifying: Zarco prophet in his homeland takes pole, Petrucci on the front row
The official Yamahas were disappointing, with Vinales and Rossi on the third row
MotoGP French GP Qualifying – The pole position of the French Grand Prix in the MotoGP class, the fifth round of the 2018 MotoGP championship, scheduled for tomorrow on the legendary Bugatti circuit in Le Mans, went to home idol Johann Zarco.
The Yamaha rider and next KTM rider stopped the clock at a time of 1:31.185, a new Le Mans track record (for Zarco it is the second pole of the season, the fourth in MotoGP).
World ranking leader Marc Marquez tried to ruin his home party, eventually giving up by 0.108s.
Also on the front row was an amazing Danilo Petrucci, who after passing through the trap in Q1, achieved a fantastic third time just 0.196s from pole.
Second row for two Italians, Andrea Iannone on Suzuki and Andrea Dovizioso on Ducati. The two former Ducati teammates preceded Jorge Lorenzo.
The official Yamahas are disappointing, having to settle for the third row, eighth and ninth time with Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi.
The two, who fought for the victory last year (Vinales won with Rossi on the ground) are preceded by Jack Miller's Ducati GP17.
