MotoGP French GP Press Conference – Marc Marquez was present at the press conference preceding the French Grand Prix, fifth stage of the 2019 MotoGP.

The Spaniard is the world championship leader after his victory in Jerez, but the race for the title is still long.

These are the words of Marc Marquez: “Jerez was important, it was important to bring home 25 points, it was what we were looking for. The tests showed that we were competitive, we tried everything. The path is right. Here the track is different, we start from scratch and during the weekend we will understand our level and then try to get on the podium. Here last year Dovi was fast, as was Yamaha 2 years ago. It's an unpredictable track. Are you worried about Ducati in the next races? The next tracks, Mugello and Barcellona, are Lorenzo tracks rather than Ducati. This year we have a different bike and it will be interesting to see how it performs this year. All Honda riders have slightly different sensations and different directions. For us the important thing is to all follow the same direction. It's easier to understand how to improve, but with new bikes when you have more torque the bike becomes more difficult to ride. Just look at the Suzuki which is easier to drive but loses in acceleration. Ours is less drivable but we gain in other points. We are working to reduce the problems. Changing strategy over the weekend due to the weather conditions? We have to evaluate, but we will do the usual strategy. We need to see which tire to use in the race and then we'll see the forecast. If they are variable we will have to adapt and aim for the times, but we will not change our strategy."

In America the Spaniard's crash was caused by an engine braking problem, which however seems to have been resolved already in Jerez: “In Jerez we resolved the problem, I rode following my style. Here there are corners in first gear and we will see if the problem is solved all the way. The engineers told us it's fixed but we'll find out more tomorrow. I hope the problem no longer exists.

The drivers were then asked what they would like as a teammate if they race in Formula 1 and what quality they would like to 'steal' from them: “I would like Alonso as a teammate. I would like his ability to do fast laps and his aggressiveness, especially in the first laps.
