MotoGP | GP Jerez Qualifying: Vinales, “I'm a bit disappointed with myself” [VIDEO]
The Yamaha Spaniard will start from fifth place
MotoGP Gp Jerez Monster Yamaha Qualifying – Maverick Vinales closed qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix, fourth stage of the 2019 MotoGP, with the fifth fastest time.
The Spanish driver had some difficulties during the third free practice session and was unable to qualify directly in Q2, so he had to go through the Q1 trap. The #12 qualified without too many problems with the first time in the first round, but in the second something seemed to be missing.
These are the words of Maverick Vinales: “I'm satisfied, because FP3 was very difficult for me. I didn't find a good feeling and I wasn't riding well, so we changed a lot on the bike in FP4 and then I felt really good and had good race pace, which is the most important thing. I'm a bit disappointed with myself for qualifying, because I chose a bad strategy. I tried to follow Jorge but I forgot that Morbidelli and Quartararo were right behind me. I want to congratulate Fabio, because pole is not easy in MotoGP. Franco also did a great job. Fifth position for me is really good, considering this morning's FP3. Tomorrow I will start from the second row. It will be very important to have a good start, because we have the pace and I am braking very late, so I think for me overtaking will be much easier than at other tracks. Let's see if tomorrow I can be as competitive as in FP4.”
