MotoGP | GP Jerez Qualifying: Extraordinary pole for Crutchlow, Rossi is tenth
Three Italians in the third row, Iannone, Dovizioso and Petrucci
MotoGP GP Spain Qualifying – The pole position of the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2018 MotoGP, the first European, went to an extraordinary Cal Crutchlow, who stopped the clock on the LCR Team Honda with a time of 1:37.653.
For the British driver it is the first pole of the season, the fourth of his career. Chasing the #35 is Dani Pedrosa's official Honda and the first of the Yamahas, not one of the official ones, but that of Frenchman Johann Zarco's Team Tech 3.
The second row will be opened by a positive Jorge Lorenzo, who astride the "hybrid" Ducati (it has some rear parts from the GP17) has put the reigning champion Marc Marquez behind him, with the latter being the favorite for pole, but who had to deal with fierce opponents. With them Alex Rins' Suzuki.
Three Italians in the third row, namely Andrea Iannone with the Suzuki, Andrea Dovizioso with the Ducati GP18 of the internal team and Danilo Petrucci with the Ducati GP18 of the Pramac Team.
Qualifying to forget for the official Yamahas, who will start from the back. Valentino Rossi is tenth at 0.614s from the top, while Maverick Vinales follows him at 14 thousandths.
A Yamaha in crisis, except that Zarco, who will race with KTM in the next two years, has grabbed the seventh consecutive front row with the M1 SAT of Team Tech 3.
