MotoGP | Gp Jerez Race: Zarco, “Today I was lucky”
The French driver finished the Spanish GP in second position
MotoGP GP Spain Tech3 Race – Johann Zarco closed the Jerez Grand Prix, fourth stage of the 2018 MotoGP, in second position.
After an excellent start the rider began to lose several positions, also due to some errors. Having found his rhythm again, he then managed to get back into the race, and in the end, thanks to the three-man crash of Dovizioso, Lorenzo and Pedrosa, he managed to take the second step of the podium, thus also taking second place in the world rankings.
These are the words of Johann Zarco: “Sometimes I need a little luck and today I had it. I started from third position and it was a great opportunity. I could have been a little faster than Pedrosa at the start, but he was a little better in acceleration and therefore I never had a sufficient margin to overtake him in braking. I wasn't able to do it. It was difficult, but then when I was in fifth position I started to hope to catch the leading group again, even if Marquez was going away, there was still the fight for the podium. I was always confident, I knew it would be possible to catch them and I was doing my race. When I saw the accident in front of me, I couldn't believe it. I said to myself, keep calm, we have a big advantage, with just seven laps to go and it's important to bring home a good result. 20 points in the championship is simply incredible."
