MotoGP Gp Jerez Mooney VR46 – Luca Marini closed the first day of free practice for the Spanish Grand Prix, fourth stage of the 2023 MotoGP, with the tenth fastest time.

Immediately at ease aboard the Ducati Desmosedici GP in the morning session, Luca suffered from the rising temperatures in the afternoon and closed, thanks to the time in the first free practice sessions (1'37.053 ed.), at the limits of the Top10, thus gaining direct access to Q2 tomorrow (11.15 am local time ed.).

Luca Marini Statements Day 1 Jerez Spanish GP

“A not perfect day with a very small gap in the classification. I was strong in the first free practice and I didn't want to risk another tire in the afternoon for a second time attack. I was lucky and stayed tenth. I didn't feel very good with the medium rear, which is the race tire here, because the bike had no grip, it slipped and didn't turn as I would have liked. This is the aspect we need to work on the most in view of tomorrow. All the teams, especially the Factory ones, have a lot of data from the test riders who rode here a few weeks ago, so the level is incredibly high. In any case, I'm happy because, even without being perfect, we are in Q2. Qualifying tomorrow will be crucial.”
