MotoGP | GP Italia Day 1: Vinales, "we can be faster"

MotoGP GP Italy Mugello Monster Yamaha 2021 – Maverick Vinales closed the first day of free practice for the Italian Grand Prix, sixth stage of the 2021 MotoGP, with the eighth fastest time.

The Yamaha Spaniard recorded the best overall performance in the first free practice session, while in the afternoon he was unable to improve, closing around 4 tenths from the top.

“I immediately felt good in FP1. I felt really good on the track. I felt fine both in the morning and in the afternoon. I think tomorrow we will make a big leap in terms of lap time, because today we didn't have a good time attack. It didn't go well at all, so for sure we can be faster. But still the most important thing is our pace, and we are building confidence step by step, like in Le Mans, where I felt really good in the first laps of the race. I felt I had the potential to win in France if it stayed dry. We have to keep moving forward.”
