MotoGP Catalan GP LCR Honda MotoGP Day 1 – Positive feelings for Cal Crutchlow on the first day of free practice valid for the Catalan Grand Prix, the eighth round of this 2020 MotoGP world championship.

Despite the pain in his foot and his physical condition not being 100%, the Englishman from the LCR team made the most of the data collection in both free practice sessions, drawing positive indications for tomorrow.

The team's other driver, Taakaki Nakagami, also performed well, managing to close this first day of work in Barcelona in fifth position, close to the top positions in the standings. Important findings that the team will try to confirm in tomorrow's FP3.

“Today was a bit of a strange day. The track conditions were not the best and, normally, from FP1 to FP2 you can feel that there is more rubber on the track and more grip. But today I didn't feel any improvement on the track because it was very windy. I really struggled to hold the bike. At the end of FP2 we fitted a new soft rear tire and were able to improve the lap time and finish in P5. However, we need to improve over the race distance, because with the medium compound we are not fast enough. We will work hard to prepare a good bike for tomorrow."

“It was nice to finally get back on track and see my team again. We worked well today and took the 2019 setting as a reference but it wasn't optimal for the 2020 bike so we had to change our work plan a bit. It was very windy and because of this the bike wasn't very stable. I'm not very fast yet but I have a good pace even if my arm still hurts. It has swollen again but with the help of the doctors I hope to be fine to have a good qualifying tomorrow."
