MotoGP | GP Assen Race, Binder: “I tried for the podium, but it didn't happen”

MotoGP GP Assen Day KTM Factory Race – Another "concrete" performance for Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira in the Dutch Grand Prix, 11th round of the 2022 MotoGP world championship. After the double top ten placement achieved in Germany, the standard bearers of the official KTM team also confirmed themselves in Assen, closing the weekend with fifth and ninth place respectively. “I was looking for my place on the grid and I didn't expect Joan to brake so hard. It could have been a worse crash, but I broke the lever guard and also the pod on the right side. The bike was a bit unstable in the fast parts – sectors two and four – and I even lost a few tenths of a second. Finishing in the top ten was nice, but it's always frustrating knowing you could have done better. Today we had the speed and rhythm to be a little bit faster. I used to complain that I needed to be more consistent and now I think I have four ninths! Now we have this break to regroup and come back better."

“A great race and it felt like qualifying from start to finish! I tried wholeheartedly for the podium, I thought it was possible. On the last lap I dived inside Jack but then Aleix caught us both: I'm happy we all made it and no one fell! Anyway, it was nice to finish in the top five; it's been a while. I started in the lead, more so than I have lately, and it's easier to fight from 10th than 15th. I think we got some good data for the team and it's clear where we need to improve. Once we get it right, I think we'll be really strong."
