MotoGP | GP Assen Day 1: A.Espargarò, “I hoped for better”

MotoGP GP Holland Aprilia Gresini – Not exactly a positive day for Aleix Espargarò on the Assen track, scene of the next Dutch MotoGP Grand Prix.

In fact, despite his quick recovery after his knee injury, the Spaniard was unable to make the most of the potential of the RS-19 on the Dutch circuit, an aspect which significantly penalized his performance on the track. A complicated start, certainly, but one that the Spaniard hopes to redeem already during the sessions scheduled for tomorrow.

“I honestly hoped to feel a little better”, revealed the Spaniard at the end of today's free practice. “On the other hand, when changing direction at high speed where you have to use your body, I struggle, I feel pain in my knee and I can't apply the right force”.

“The crash in FP1 was also due to this, in a left corner I wasn't able to bend as much as I needed to and I lost the front,” he added. “Things should improve tomorrow, the first day is always the one where you struggle the most. Now I have to rest and try to recover."
