MotoGP GP Argentina Petronas Yamaha Day 1 – The first day of free practice for the Argentine Grand Prix ended with the two standard bearers of the Petronas Yamaha team, Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli in fifth and ninth position respectively.

Morbidelli was one of the best riders in the morning and was in second place for a long time during the early stages of FP1 before finishing fourth fastest. In the afternoon he managed to set excellent times in the first half of the session and then finished in ninth position.

These are the words of Franco Morbidelli: “It's my first day with the Yamaha YZR-M1 on this track and I felt very good. I felt comfortable and I'm having fun. The times are very tight and there are a lot of riders within a second, so getting into the Top 10 is a very positive thing. We still have to continue working on different aspects, because we have room for improvement. We need to finish fixing some things on the rear and find a little more speed. The conditions here change from day to day and the weather is usually unstable, so having achieved the weather we did today could be very valuable. We must be ready to react in any situation, both in the remaining free practice sessions and in qualifying.”

On the other side of the garage, Fabio Quartararo entered the ten in FP1, thanks to the eighth time, but it was in the afternoon that he amazed thanks to an incredible fifth time

These are the words of Fabio Quartararo: “The first impressions with a MotoGP here in Argentina were good. I expected the track to be more difficult. I thought it would be more difficult, as we had never tried here before, unlike Qatar. I felt very good and very comfortable, right from the start. In the last laps I think everyone tried to make the time, but we managed to be competitive and remain among the leaders. The conditions were almost perfect, so I'm happy with the work done today. Now it's time to focus on tomorrow and work on the pace of the race. Qualifying will certainly be challenging and we will have to drive to the limit to achieve the best possible grid position.”
