MotoGP GP Argentina Race pace analysis – The real protagonist of the Termas de Rio Hondo weekend is the weather, on Friday the track was dry, while on Saturday the track has been constantly wet since the morning. Even though there are only a few hours left until the start of the Argentine GP, the weather continues to be an unknown. The only certainty at the moment is that the Hondas, in particular Marc Marquez, have the best pace on both a wet and dry track, but let's go into detail.

To better analyze the race pace, we first concentrated on FP2, a session with a dry track, but with particular weather conditions, and then FP4 with a wet track.

In the dry, as already mentioned, the best pace belongs to Marc Marquez, but in these conditions we also find the two Yamahas of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales very competitive. The tire preferred by almost all the riders in these conditions seems to be a medium on the front and a soft on the rear, although the medium cannot be ruled out as an option for the race. In essence, the differences, in terms of degradation, between soft and medium are practically nil so both choices can be used in competition. However, no driver attempted to cover more than 7/8 laps with the same set of tyres. In the event of a dry race, Marquez would face the Yamahas and his teammate Crutchlow. The official Ducatis are very late.

Below is the graph of the race paces in dry conditions

In the event of a wet match the values on the pitch change slightly. We always find Marquez as the fastest rider, but in these conditions the official Ducatis of Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso return to being competitive, this to the detriment of the Yamahas, which are in more difficulty in these conditions. In this case the choice of tires is dictated by the track conditions, if there is a lot of water they will be forced to use a soft, with a damp track, the medium. Looking at the sessions of these last two days it is difficult to imagine the possibility of having a flag to flag race, the asphalt takes a long time to dry completely, but some "crazy" like Miller in qualifying could go for broke.

This is the analysis of the race pace in wet track conditions during FP4
